What size socket does it take to install the upper ball joint into the upper control arm? '72 Duster. Torque to 125 ft-lb or something else?

These are special- not standard sockets. Small ball joint= 1 7/8". Large ball joint= 2 1/8".

Maybe I'll see of the parts store has a loaner. I can't see buying a special tool for a single use.:(
Since the UCA is out of the car, I don't think I have to worry about clearance...hence, I don't think I need to squatty profile. If I had a 1 7/8" standard socket, that should work shouldn't it?

Nope. The ball joints have rounded corers between the flats. Like the shape of the socket. I have seen guys use Crescents and pipe wrenches. Nope. Not the proper tool.

Lol, A 12 point can.................. if you can wield a die grinder!

BTW, make sure they weren't welded on the last time replaced.

Taking old ones out not a problem. Did that a long time ago during initial teardown for rotisserie resto. At the time, I wasn't concerned about the "right" tool. Old BJs were junk anyway. Now, I'm rebuilding and I'd rather not booger things up. So I'm looking for the right tool.
Thanks everybody for your help.

I'd lend you mine, but the shipping would cost 4 x what the kit sells for on Amazon...

guessing you have large upper joints? i'll loan you one of mine if you want to pay the shipping.

Thanks for the offer. I think for the price of shipping, etc. I will be as well off just buying one. First I'll find out if O'Reilly has a loaner.
