I like to use Blue Streak Ignition parts in my Mopars. My mechanic friends told me that these parts were usually superior to some other brands. I've noticed that most of these are no longer available at Rock Auto. I can still get them from my local family owned parts store and I do when I need them. But if I can save some coin now and then I try to. Has anybody else noticed this? Does anyone have a good source for these parts at discounted prices? Just wondering out loud.

The place I worked at in the early 80's sold these parts as "premium". They always seemed to be top notch and we never had any complaints with them......That was back in the day. Not sure how the quality is today with all of the outsourcing and profit maximization going on.

Standard Ignition/Blue Streak were very good parts years ago. I don't know if they went to offshore manufacturing (i.e. China or some other foreign nation). Since I no longer run an earlier model street car, I have kept up with those type of parts.

New stuff sucks Blue streak was probably the best chance out there. I noticed it has dried up also I am not sure if they are still making it. I only use older NORS or NOS stuff. New has terrible point tension and they float and the condensers fail hot half the time. Just FYI

Blue Streak in the Standard ignition line was always the gold standard for me. I owned a few parts stores and Standard ignition was always the first product line I change over to.

Unfortunately it’s probably going the same way everything else has. These cars are 50 plus years old now. The demand isn’t like it used to be. The conglomerates have been buying up competition for years. Holley as an example, look at the brands they’ve bought. If the manufacturers have an item that doesn’t move at a certain volume they’re not going to make it. When we had the family parts store Standard was all we stocked Blue Streak was the top of the line. The jest of it is that the corporations are now all about maximized profits with minimum cash out. Gotta keep share holders happy at the expense of quality and what ever else. My advice, and I understand the cash point, buy local as much as you can. One day some big entity may buy that local place and just close the doors. Sorry kind of a rant.

Standard isn’t the only game as there are good US made alternatives, especially old stock from closed down shops. I constantly search for this particular American made defunct brand and have built up a good stash, here’s just some of the stuff, for likely the rest of my life! I also have a stash of quality thick tan old stock distributor caps. I will use the factory Chrysler electronic ignition system and related parts till I die! I carry a small box with each part for “just in case” in all our other old Dodge trucks. Just ordered a few more ignition parts today off eBay so I’m done, all set. I’m turning into a hoarder:rolleyes:
