we got an electric one in the hot tub room, and 2 gas fire places...one in the living room, the other outside on the deck
the one in the living room, i run on a thermostat, if the room drops below 78 the fire place comes on
pretty cool...but the real nice thing is, i can turn it on manually, even when the power is out
