Hi guys,

Can anyone help me out and please let me know the dimensions of the 340 hood badge found on 70-73 dart hood scoops? I've found the part on various sites under part #VC340 but no one lists the size. I'm thinking of using it elsewhere so that's why I'm after the size.

Thanks, Mike N.

About 1.5" long x 3/4 tall would be my guess. I have a couple sets but they are out in the garage.

Oldmanmopar - what are the 340 badges with the red centers off of???

I have some of these parts a long time. I once towed cars everyday in the 70's and 80's and 90's LOL . If I remember correctly I believe they came off of a mid 60's Buick GS 340 car. . The Buicks were pretty quick cars back then. I'll never use them.

I thought they were off of a Cuda'340 hood but they were never connected at the No#3

I had mopar style on my blue Demon and I started buying 70, 72 and 73 Demons and Darts and got more 340's for the Demon I have now. But they are extra weight and we can't have that. LOL 70's are bolt on and 72-73 are slip on.

I have a bag of them here . I gave some to Jim for the Sport I sold him. A always thought of using some on a car but never did. I saved everything. The red 340 emblems I thought were pretty cool I even put Double face tape on them to use but never did. Couldn't think of where to put them. Inner doors , Dash, on the deck lid. They would always be a conversation piece and they are stick on. So they are not permanent.

Oldmanmopar - just to be sure I'm interpreting the pictures correctly. those rebuild pictures are of the wrecked car in the picture??? If so... WOW!!! I am really impressed! Are you doing all this yourself? My hat is off to you!

Any chance that you would sell those red 340 emblems? If so send me a PM

Wow driver's door that couldn't have been good!

The blue Demon is long gone. The new Demon is another car. The blue Demon is a before and after. The one on the stand is being built now. Different car. I have this Demon on the stand that I have owned since back then and never did anything with it until now. I gathered parts for years for that Demon to remake my car. I also have the parts and another mint body to remake the Duster I lost a couple years back. I may die first but we all have dreams.

Please post a video of the old Duster doing a burnout on your street again.
COOOOOOOL......

Thanks for the help on the badge sizes, I picked up a set of Summit aluminum valve covers and want to have '340' put on the center flat section. Lettering around 3" x 1" would fit about perfect so those badges are a bit small. I'll try my luck at a few local metal shops and look into getting some made up.

Some buicks had larger 340's check the net. Some old scorpion snowmobiles have them also. Many motors back then were 340's some CC some Cu In. I was always on the look out for them years ago. You can find some pretty cool emblems taken from things of our past. Just have to look.
