Greetings and a few questions from Switzerland.

Hi everyone.
My name is Noah, and i am from Switzerland.
First i want to tell you, that this forum is a great source of knowledge.
I recently bought a 1970 Crysler Valiant with a stock LA 318 and 3 gear automatic transmission. (No mistake there, the Plymouth Valiants were assembled in Switzerland, and rebranded as Chrysler)
The engine has open chamber 8.8:1 compression heads. Its quite low mileage (about 53000 Miles) and sounds really healthy. I would like to do a mild street performance build. (Heads, porting, 4bbl with intake, mild cam, ignition, long headers and a 2"double pipe exhaust) Nothing to fancy. Maybe it will be used as daily driver.

Now comes my problem: When i order performance parts to Switzerland, the shipment will cost me an arm and a leg (the parts including shipping will be about 3x the price you pay)
And my budget won't allow that.

My idea would be to buy used parts from a scrapyard.

If i could get my hands on:
-a used 340 or 318 magnum camshaft
-a pair of used 318 magnum heads (if it will fit with pushrods and rockers Or do i need the AMC style pushrods and rockers?)
-a used 600cfm 4bbl carb

,order the ignition, and the intake manifold for the magnum heads, slap on long headers that i already found used, do some gasket matching and porting, would this build be worth the time and money?

The exhaust system (except for the headers will be fabricated by myself, probably with dynomax silencers.

If the magnum heads aren't an option, could i machine the stock heads for compression and do a valve job (stock valvesize) and porting?

Any input would be greatly appreciated, because in Switzerland it is hard to get any information on this topic.

Greetings: Noah
