Correct paint for dash?

-
You can still get lacquer mixed. I sprayed the final two coats of my dash from about double the normal distance with less fluid and more air. That way the paint is almost dry when it hits and doesn't have a chance to flow out. The finish had the desired effect.

65 yrs old and doing these a long time the best is what I mentioned above. You can get wax on it, It does not water spot, wipe it with what ever you want and it always looks the same . Matches the stripes perfect. Wears like a rock . Lean your sweaty arm out the window and it never shows up. I will not use anything else. Turned several people on to it and they love it.

The new paints today do not compare with the old crap. This Duster is going to get the V24 340 wedge this week including the wing scoop and turn indicators. I get some pics after its done. the interior is already done that's the column above .

I can remember the old organosol black. If you touched it you would see a print that only soap and water would remove. That was always use on exterior and don't get wax on that old stuff. Interiors were sprayed with a flattener added to the color. Once you use this paint you will never look back. Hot rod black doesn't compare nor does any other paint. It always dries the same texture and you couldn't tiger stripe it if you want to. Its idiot proof. Well maybe not for some on this site. LOL

Yes that's correct, it was hood paint not dash

I sold the Duster Its coming back to get assembled after paint. All the parts like bolts and trim piece are here . I did not paint this car. He bought it prepped for paint from me. The car is straight as an arrow. I even surprised myself. If I would have painted it I would have put a lot more clear on it.

Yeah I can tell the finish is different but the color is too. It's way darker.....and it;s not faded. I'm just going to sand it down and hit it with flat red.
On my 63 dart the dash is a medium Auqa but just behind the windshield is a much darker aqua covering the entire area behind the ridge. It includes the speaker grille and around the vents. As stated it doesn't look as shiny (mind you not much on my car is currently...lol). I would also guess it is to reduce reflection and glare
