S*** damn it!!

I was rebuilding my 340 engine and torqued the main caps to 100 ft-lb as I thought. Looked at FSM later and saw they should be 80 or 90 ( I forget now). Anyway thinking may have stretched bolt, I had to order new set. Bucks and delay taught me to write down torque values instead of trying to remember.

Around 2004, I acquired Lincoln Mark 7 from an insurance auction, the front end had been hit at an angle, pulling the bumper off and damaging some of the wiring. I had to jump the solenoid to start it as some of the damaged wiring was for the anti theft system. I had trailered it home and unloaded it with no problems, and was attempting to turn it around in the driveway and get it into the garage. I had removed the front bumper and grille as they were damaged. I had started the engine and moved the car to within about 5 feet of my house when it stalled. I got out with my trusty screwdriver, lifted the hood, and jumped the solenoid. The engine fired immediately, on the fast idle, and immediately lurched forward, right into the wall of my house, directly under my bedroom window where my wife was sleeping. Not only did I feel like a complete dumbass for leaving the transmission in drive, but my wife was now scowling down at me from the window, above the newly cracked stucco on the wall of the house. :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:
I left the Lincoln where it sat, got in my Dart and went directly to the beer store.
