@IQ52 how did the timing numbers differ between the two combinations? Do you recall? And we’re both run on the same fuel?

118-120 cranking psi seems kinda low for that much of HP?
Could that be that possible?

I think it is possible...........I mean.....my son and I have done 694 HP with 451 cubic inches, 906 heads, 280/288 @ .050 roller, 9.5:1 static and 125 psi cranking compression @ 4,500' elevation. I guess we could have been hallucinating all these years.

I don't think anything we did there is spectacular. We just had fun doing it as a father and son team.

Cody has finish another set of 346 heads with spare parts we've had hanging around for many years and we will use them on a 450/400 we are making for our '73 Dodge Charger. And no, we haven't been able to duplicate the flows we have seen in 906 heads in others like 452, 346, 902 or even 915 heads.

915....wow....this just reminded me I have a set if 915's he mildly ported and I botched the valve guide clearance. A valve seized and bent on one of our dyno tests. I gotta drag those puppies out and repair them sometime. But boy is that storage unit COLD right now!

Just a couple of days ago he expressed some interest in maybe doing some more heads again. Then begged, "Please Dad, heads maybe, just let's not build anymore engines for people!"

38 degrees on #1 with the iron heads and 37 degrees on #2 with the EZ. Everything ran on 91 octane from the Stinker Station.

Even when we combined the roller cam and the EZ heads for 658 HP we ran on 91 octane.

Not unless my boy is teasing me.....he has said for two years, "Don't wanna do no more heads, my wrist is sore."

Coupla months ago, "Well....maybe some aluminum."

This week, "You know the 346 heads we did were not so bad. I could do some iron."

Don't think he'll ever want to do the all out 906 or RPM heads again but the lighter stuff I think he will do.

I've turned a lot of head work down this year and now he thinks he may want to do it again? Some people's kids!

Multiple sets of mid/full port heads every year will wear you down. I work 2hrs at a time...and believe it or not, I like using a worn-out bearing grinder because it puts less shock to my wrists and even lets the carbide be more forgiving making lighter work easy and not so touchy. lol
 
346/902/452 heads with big valves flowing in the 280 range aren’t too bad.
906’s & 915’s take a few more hours because of the intake short turn.

That’s about my limit for those things these days.

Fortunately....... most people aren’t interested in paying what it costs to have me do that...... so those jobs are few.
