70 DUSTER “Semi-Survivor” 318/B5 Early Low Option Car
Hello all. Thought I had addressed most questions with my lengthy post and pics, but I’m being asked for more specifics....
Indeed the car was repainted approx 22 yrs ago in a darker shade of blue, over its original sheet metal. It was not a base/clear or a high-end job. Still shines a bit and could be buffed to a better shine if desired. There appears to have been NO rust work done to the car at that time or since, other than a patch to the passenger-front footwell and some pinholes elsewhere in the floor.
The original factory B5 paint remains on the backside of hood/trunk, engine bay, trunk-area and jambs. Paint on motor was poorly touched-up at some point, but is the original, great running 318.
I have 2 matching build sheets original to the car. The nicer of the two from the backseat was pictured behind the springs before removal in the original post. The other is torn all along where the springs made impressions, but is otherwise good and can be easily pieced back together. I do not yet have a pic of the fender tag. The car is in winter storage. You may be able to see it still attached in one of the previous posts.
The original front seat is out of the car awaiting new matching upholstery from Legendary. They are months behind (ordered 12/1/20) but when received, will go to the buyer. The seat itself is an excellent core, the burlap isn’t even torn. Tracks are really nice too. The rear seat is also original and cleaned up very nice, has some hard-to-see spots that I could not get out. The only interior pieces re-dyed were the package tray (wrong color), defroster vents and seat belt buckles due to scratches. I did buy 2 cans of OER 330 Blue Interior paint and was going to spray the headrests due to sun bleach, but have yet to do so. They’re actually pretty nice as-is. All belts including the shoulder belts cleaned up very nice and have very good chrome.
Hope this covers it...thanks.
