It can be used in an A body if you narrow it and change housing ends (well you could use it without doing all that and going mad Max with radiused wjeeltubs and the outer sidewalls of the tires about 8 inches out and the big truck hubs, but I or anyone else in their right mind wouldn’t recommend it). You’ll want to put a limited slip in and change axles in it anyway so the existing spline count doesn’t matter a whole lot, the count on the axles you choose to go back with will, though. And when you pull the axle shaft bolts, there will be some conical washers that interference fit the axles to the outer hub, you’ll have to hammer around those before you can pull them out. You’ll probably want to find a video on how to change rear brakes on a 3/4 ton Dodge next so you can tear it down. The narrowing and tube end installation is probably best left to a machine shop, you’ll need the dimensions from the accurate 8-3/4 axle width list here to have them do it.
