Yep, US mail has been taking forever, and a day.
Lately, UPS has been much quicker, hands down.

USPS works, if you have time to wait, & wait & wait (that's your tax dollars at work) UPS is & always has been a more efficient way to ship things. May cost a little more but worth it in the long run.

I have been waiting for a part for the heater in my shop. The part was ordered on December 07,2020 still no sign of it and it was last scanned on December 16,2020 in the Baltimore Distribution Center. But nothing else. The company told me to reorder and return the second one for credit. There is a 30% restocking fee plus I have to pay for the shipping. I'm thinking the company should replace it at no charge for shipping it USPS and not UPS. Needless to say I have charged it back and ordered from somewhere else for 77.00 more but it I get it I'll be fine with it.

The US mail has gotten much slower. I have family members that are employed by the USPS, from mail sorting to delivery, and its gotten worse all around, from the top down to the carriers schedules, (most likely political).
It used to be a good deal, considering the price of a stamp, but lately, who wants to wait a month to get a package delivered?

Between Christmas, and Covid shipping Maybe but yes , I ordered a Caliper piston from RA ( Usually quik ship) took almost a Month. UPS got them beat.

I’m waiting on an emblem I bought on ebay from December 18th, no tracking info provided by seller, hope I get it Un-damaged cause it’s a rare one I need....sucks it’s been slow for some and other packages get through real fast!

I live on the opposite side of the Can/US border
Windsor/Detroit. (Hour from Windsor)

Due to the border being closed i ordered a part from a company in Detroit. Thinking i should have it within a week.
It didnt arrive in the week so i tracked it.

Some reason it flew to California to a distribution center to get customs cleared.
Then made it to Florida
Back to Detroit to cross the border.
Then to Mississauga On to a distribution center.
Hung out there for a few days
Made a tourist stop in London ON (1 hour away)
6 weeks later it was delivered.

Canada post typically does not sit around too often. They only work weekdays. With xmas they deliver packages on weekends. (Rural areas)

Why Texas and Florida?

I should of had them throw the part across the Detroit River or catch a boater.

Between covid , paid holidays, complacency, ignorance and poor management you're already behind the 8 ball once you put your "forever" stamp on the envelope.

And don’t forget to mention all the sorting machines throughout the US that were taken out of commission in July.

I ordered a custom tumbler from a vendor called 64hydro on Dec. 4th (Christmas gift). It was reportedly shipped via DHL. Evidently DHL turns some deliveries over to USPS. USPS showed tracking number not found in their system. I emailed customer service @ 64hydro 3 times before I got a reply. I don't know if the item was found or remade. Again their email showed shipped via DHL. USPS delivered it here on Jan. 12th.

FedEx with an account within USA is not a bad deal. Sometimes the larger stuff is actually cheaper with FedEx. Lots of stuff is USPS subcontracted between routes. I had a shipment sitting at the Shanghai airport for a month before it said enroute. When I got it 70 days later it was 3 25 cent facemasks when my order should have been a tabletop metal smelter! Guy said they sent the wrong item, Ill ship again and then he provided me with a fake tracking number that went to a fake website that said my package was on its way. 8 Days later (From China!) I track it to a "dock" in my hometown and its out for delivery....nothing....for 5 days. Emailed the guy back, WTF..Where is it> Uh, they lost it, do you want a 60% refund or credit to a fake sneaker website based in China? I want it all back..no, please understand that they lost it and Im out the price of the item...so YOU get your money back from them, I want mine. Done with him, Opened a paypal dispute (wait for it...) and 6 days later, I get a full refund from paypal. Damn, they finally came to bat for me. I just had a transistor sent to me from PA, was 4 days in transit in an envelope. packages are probably slow but letter mail seems to be fine.

I had a small box of parts I bought from Al leave Florida, arrived here in Ontario approx 6-8 weeks later after a layover in Germany lol. I was shocked/impressed lol. Box was 4x4x4 max. I was honestly surprised that it made it back across the pond lol. Oh and there were glass in it, arrived safe n sound.

Hell!!! You should of sent it to me....I work in Morton Il. I would have delivered it for you.

The other thing that needs to be added into the equation for this is the fact since C19 hit, the package volume at the post office has been higher than typical Christmas volumes, all year long. Include the fact that they can't keep people and you have a lose-lose situation. Not defending them, just trying to help fill in the background.

Have a friend that worked for USPS until recently. He finally quit because he couldn't take it anymore. He was out until 10:00 PM sometimes and making 2 trips when his van wouldn't hold all the packages. Add that he was a part time employee and supposed to only be working 2 days a week, not the 6 (or 7?) he was working.

Based on what he has told me, they are seriously overworked, and been told to shut up and work harder. Doesn't sound like there is any hope for relief for them.

We sent a Christmas gift to my son this year that was supposed to be there 2 days before Christmas Eve. Got there last week. Honestly, in the end I am just glad it got there at all.

...provided me with a fake tracking number that went to a fake website that said my package was on its way...

This is why I never trust a link in an email anymore, don't even trust the option to enter a tracking number when I google "USPS tracking".

That stuff happens every year, also the removal of remote drop boxes in certain areas. It's part of the USPS streamlining. It may have added to it, but I think their policy in regards to Covid is the biggest issue.

My local Postmaster told me that if someone comes in contact with a positive person they have to stay home for a week. If they come back to work and it happens again in 2 days, another week off.

How many full time PO employees are only working 5 days a month, lol.

Placed an order in late November for some toys for my father inlaw to hand out to his grand kids for Christmas. It was shipped in two boxes. One box showed up in a week and the other one finally showed up last week. I ended up going to the USPS website and filling out a form for missing mail. Two days after I filled that out the package magically appeared on my door step.....

I've ordered a few things since and still waiting for something around 150 miles away that has taken more than two weeks to get to my house. If I have the option to chose I've paid a little extra to ship it either UPS or FED/EX instead of USPS...
