Hi everyone,

I recently made a post here about restoring my center console (Center Console Restoration Help), and when I mentioned that I will be 3D printing a set of custom top plates with cupholders (and other goodies) it sparked interest in other pieces that could be 3D printed for restorations. You know, the unobtanium stuff! @IMFURYS mentioned that one such piece is the rocker molding clips for these cars, which seem like they would be easy to print assuming I have the correct ones in mind.

Though I've not graduated yet, I am an engineering student in Indianapolis and have a good friend with a 3D printer who uses it for similar projects. He's printed horn buttons and clips, other various parts, and a lot of custom jobs for people who need odd things. A good example of this is a gentleman who is swapping a turbocharged Corvair engine into his vintage air-cooled Porsche, and needs a custom cooling fan to make it fit. The reason for the swap is he doesn't want to grenade his car's original engine, but still wants 300 WHP.

So, how many people would be interested in helping me develop these rocker molding clips? From what I have been able to find, it seems that there are quite a few people who need some. If this thread gets enough traction, really all I would need is at least one original clip in good shape to take dimensions off of and compare prototypes to. Someone would have to volunteer one of these clips (it would get returned of course!) and also volunteer to see how a 3D-printed set fits, as my '68 Notchback did not come with the rocker trim option. I am not sure how pricing would go, it depends on how many people are interested I think. If anyone is interested please let me know! I will also create another thread detailing my center console top plate development once it begins.

Some of these fit A and B bodies. I need a set for my 1970 Sport Satellite and the same type fits A bodies too.

I have used originals I can mail to you.

Thank you! I sent you an email with my address and phone number as well if you need it.

Got it.

I have some C-body versions here also, I have not compared them yet, but I will before I mail samples to you.

These parts are needed by many, so I hope your venture does well. :)

If you need C-body clips, we can try to reproduce those as well. Feel free to include them with the others!

You may have just created a good side gig for you and your buddy! Also needed, are clips for full vinyl top trim on Duster, Demon, and Dart Sports. I need them, but don't have one to send you. I have seen quite a few others searching for them as well. If RT Specialties has them, they must not want to sell them because they will not return an e mail clarifying whether they have them or not! :BangHead: :realcrazy:

I'll have mine in the mail to you today.

The B-bodies require 18 per car.

Hello @Alaskan_TA and everyone! Sorry it's been so long since an update, I'm pleased to let everyone know that we have created a first set of prototypes for '64-65 Barracudas as well as '67 GTXs for another member on here. Barry, we're currently working on your clips and should have some sent your way soon -- I made a mistake with shipping and sent you an email about it.

Here are some pictures:

Once we finish working on the clips that have been very kindly sent to us, my friend and I are going to attempt to make a reproduction window corner trim piece for the early Barracudas too; the one that sits inside, underneath the window corners and cracks all the time. I do not want to get anyone too excited about those, but if we can make an accurate part then I think we would be very happy to make them for people.

More updates to come! Thanks again to everyone who is supporting us and helping us make these parts!

Well, we've just heard back from the first test fit of the '64/65 Barracuda trim clips, and things are looking good so far. We have a couple details to work out on the back end of things, but we will hopefully start selling these soon! There are also more projects of a similar nature coming down the pipeline that I will post more on as they come along.

Hi all! It's been a couple months since I've posted here and I apologize for that. The fall semester of school has started up and I am thoroughly getting my butt kicked, so I regret to say that I haven't made much progress in getting the clips ready to sell. We are currently trying to find a better solution for the small pins that hold the clips in place. Once we have that settled out, we should be good to go! I anticipate having them ready in the next month or so. Thanks for everyone's patience!

Hi all, update time again! Last semester managed to become even more brutal than it already was, so I apologize it has been so long. We are finally ready to do an initial small batch of rocker clips for '64 and '65 Barracudas, I will make a separate for sale post in a little bit here. I am currently working on belt trim clips for '64 Valiants and will start modeling the interior window corners for '64-'66 Barracudas here when I have time as well. If you or any of your friends need early Barracuda rocker trim clips please let them know, I will post a link to the for sale thread as soon as I make it. I hope everyone is having a great new year!

I need to get some good 3D design software. For my own use. I already know Siemens NX-11 (Unigraphics) but no average individual could ever buy that software. Any suggestions?

I'm also an engineer with a 3D Printer. If anyone needs help, let me know. I'd be glad to try to solve some problems.
