"What's your best Price?"

-
I'll tell you all one of my favorite times selling something: a couple of years ago, my dad bought an early 90s Honda Accord off of a customer. My Dad had worked on it since she owned it (close to 20 years), so she offered it too him. He bought it for 300 bucks, and he always asked me to list things for him. I listed it for him, and I had close to 20 people messaging me wanting to buy it. First people that came bought it without test driving it the same day he bought it. Talk about turn around. It cracked him up so much, he kept saying if we could get enough of them out here we could have an auction. I miss stuff like that.

When my wife listed an old camper we had fixed up on craigslist, a guy called and asked if he could stay in it on our property until he got his tax check, and then he would pay for it...

I hate when we are selling things cheap just to get rid of them, and people who are a 100 miles away, ask if I will deliver a $25 dollar item.

Well, how long did he stay?

What's even better is when you list something "Free for pickup" and people want you to bring it to them...

come on man, you know the frame is cracked (right by the spare tire carrier) and in order the fix it, the bed will have to come off

75 is the best i can do
I think you're thinking of my Dakota. This is a completely different truck.

BTW that crack has been repaired. Truck's going back together tomorrow.

yeah, i probably was
but my point remains, you want to knock down the price, you gotta give me a good reason (and "im shopping out of my budget" is NOT a good reason)

Those words absolutely aggravate me when I'm selling something. If I have a price on the item with no "OBO" designation, make me an offer. Don't ask what the "best price" is, because I'm going to tell you what I have listed. Anybody else have this issue(Duh)? How do you deal with it?

I am very interested in this but what is you best price, do you deliver, how long does the warranty last, will you help me install it, and I really don’t like orange, can you paint it red for the same price?

If you price things fairly you shouldn't have to deal with the the drama. They should be sold before the idiots can start to rev up there inquiring minds.

Lotta truth there , I`m sure u guys have seen some of the outlandish crazy hi prices put on stuff here , some of these guys are absolutely stupid for asking some of their prices !
I shopped around a bunch , and didnt pay extreme prices when building my car----------

I really don't like buying and selling stuff but I know it's part of what we do. Most of the time I just stick my good stuff on a shelf and toss the rest. I just don't have time to deal with it and don't like it. But when I do sell my stuff I always price it very reasonably and never sell defective or questionable parts! I would never want anyone to do that to me.I have bought some expensive parts sight unseen and so far been very lucky, and when I sell my stuff it usually goes for what I ask or very close to it to the very first person that understands what they're buying. I don't care if someone asked me if that's my best price but if they try to lowball me the conversations over.

Happens when you list on Craigslist and Faceplant. Both are loaded with puzzling people. You list something with a price. They text (even when you say no texting, calls only) or email asking what’s your best, cash today, lowest etc. If I feel like bothering I just tell them how negotiating works. I list a price, you make an offer. I always tell them I don’t negotiate with my self (list a price and then come down on it from the start) Some get it, most I never hear back from. I now post this in the listings to dispense with the douchebags, and that’s what they are: Douchebags. Life’s too short and I’m not that desperate for a sale to entertain douchebags:rofl:

I’m surprised you didn’t tell him “No, but you can stay in it on your property the day after you get your tax check”

20 or 30 years ago selling things was different than it is today, today you need to put up with about 80 percent of the people who contact you are not buyers. Most don't have the money, credit or are out there just for entertainment hell some people just want to talk. Back in the day I could deal with the BS and weed it out quickly but today I just hate selling anything.

Yep, it tweaks my melons when sellers (or “hoarders” since nobody will pay their price)
are asking $250 for a $20 part, and absolutely will not negotiate. I’m trying to get an old car back on the road, not fund their retirement. They forgot why they got into cars in the first place and no longer care about the brotherhood of gear heads. Their greed has gotten the best of them, and they have no place in this hobby.

I hate selling online, but what's a guy to do these days?? All the local car ad rags are gone, but old school rules still apply. The item is MINE and I decide how the deal goes.. asking me to divulge my "best price" without coming to see it gets the same reaction every time, I do not dicker over the phone or via emails, when would you like to come see it?
Now if you are just too far away and are comfortable with my description, we may be able to find a way.. but I always fully document the item before I ship it, there are just too many asshats out there who would do you bad if you give them half a chance.
As for selling a car, well if you are truly interested, you're coming here anyway so no, I will not negotiate except in person.. and BTW ~ money talks, BS walks. I will not take a deposit and hold the car for you.

I havent seen that many outrageous prices on here, except for an illiterate multi duster owning people/members. So the one geezer in particular squawking about prices?? Maybe try shaking the moths outta yer wallet. I've spoken to a few members that have used the phrase "tighter than bark to a tree" lol
Maybe some that are bitching should get out of their rocking chairs and go find this stuff 1st(not on the net either), THEN once you have found it, go see if it's for sale, if it is THEN haul around 100 lbs of tools to remove the pieces.
Best price?? Really that aggravates you? You better buy a big box of tissue then cuz there are A LOT more reasons to get aggravated not only in the car world, but the real world.Best price" is part of the game. Suck it up buttercup.:drama::poke:

Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion. My Dad purchased this truck before he passed, and now my Mom wants it gone. So I have to deal with it, and all of the hooplah gets very frustrating sometimes.

My condolences on dad passing, my opinion I posted was somewhat specific to fabo. I've listed parts on Kijiji(similar to CL) and put "no texts" in the ads and I NEVER list my cell#.
Theres hooplah with selling anything really.....
GLWS

Always is. I haven't listed anything on FABO since I don't have any Mopar or A Body specific things to sell right now. I won't deal with CL anymore since it's just robo calls/texts/emails. And thank you.
