Driveshaft length tolerances +/-?

-
Well folks, feel free to say you told me so. I thought I had found a drive shaft that was the correct length according to the charts I found, so I installed it and BAM!! Three full inches too SHORT!!!! Don't ask how or why, but it was.

Luckily I still had my old shaft, so I measured and had it cut by the driveline shop. I know, I know. You said to measure and I didn’t.

Lesson learned.

glad you got it sorted out...so how long was the one you bought and how long is the cut one?

The one I bought was 49.625 and the cut length I ended up with is 52.525(ish). I don’t remember the exact cut length, but I have it written down somewhere.

Also, the drive shaft I was already running and had cut is a 3” diameter shaft, while the one I bought was 2.75” diameter. I don’t know if it makes that much of a difference, but I would think a larger diameter would provide more strength, no?
