John Denver in 1976, but I don't claim that.

My uncle and I had a tradition of going to Carl Casper's custom auto show that started in the early/mid 70's.
In '79 he thought I was old enough to stay for the band which was Brownsville Station that year. I was 11.
I thought it was too loud and we went on about the show, but he convinced me to go back in time to hear "Smokin In The Boys Room".
I do claim that.

The first arena rock show was Judas Priest/Iron Maiden 1982 (Screaming For Vengence/Number Of The Beast).
That is the high standard by which I judge all other concerts.

Concert memories....
In 1981 the Stones were coming to the Silverdome, and it was general admission, and Mail order only tickets. We asked my parents if they would buy us the tickets, and if there was anything we could do to work them off. We cleaned our basement for an entire week (yes, that’s how bad it was), and just before the concert our tickets hadn’t come, but we got a letter in the mail saying we didn’t send enough money to cover the service charge. My parents shot that check out and 2 days before the concert our tickets came.

The show was Nov. 30th, we skipped school and waited in line all day in freezing rain and snow, we were dressed for the weather tho, but when we got in we were all soaking wet. We got good seats but we really wanted main floor, when a couple of young lovers came by and asked if we would be willing to change their main floor tickets for our general admission. Bingo. So we did the old empty wallet trick and went down 2 at a time, then put the tickets in an empty wallet and threw them up to our friends so they could come down.

When all 10 of us were on main floor we squeezed our way to the front of the herd and ended up about 2 rows back. Problem was, were were soaking wet, and had enough clothes on to endure the Iditarod, so it was extremely hot and steamy up there. My brother passed out, and we had to sling his arms over our shoulders and just kept rockin. He came back to life about 15 minutes later and let out a big yell, and we partied the rest of the night. We all went to school the next day with no sleep, and hangovers. It was a great concert, one I’ll never forget!

Any memories from her? From what i see and hear and read, they were a Absolute force of nature
She said they were Awesome. Great light and lazer show. She also saw AC/DC Back in Black tour there.

When I moved to Fl I saw Van Halen in '88 with Sammy. It was the Monster's of Rock at the old Tampa Stadium. They were Awesome. They even did a few from Sammy's solo day's Metallica and Scorpion's and two other bands were there. It was a Hot summer day. Girls looked mighty fine.

I was there, too!

First show after moving to FL.
Houlihan stadium, or "The Big Sombrero".
If you saw a Top Banana (but mostly primer) 1970 Super Bee in the parking lot, that was me!

Michael Anthony broke the bridge (and therefore the strings) off his Bass while playing a solo and chugging what appeared to be an entire fifth of JD.

The last show I went to in OH was Motley Crue/Whitesnake/Anthrax.

Too cool. Yeah I had a '73 Charger at the time. Good time's.

April 4th or the 7th (I forget the exact day but it’s one of those days...I have the ticket stub somewhere), Memorial Coliseum, Portland Oregon I saw Alice Cooper on the “From The Inside”tour. The Babies opened the show, but Alice was incredible. I still have that record on vinyl and on CD.

Its not quite the same, (being too young or at the time poor for the last of the 70's/80's rock band performances) but my first concerts I performed at. In rural America, High School band was a significant event. I performed in Lincoln, Omaha, Saint Louis and Chicago with our band at Concert halls with about six songs completely memorized and perfected. This doesn't include the HUNDREDS of miles we marched in parades or football fields (in gawd awful shoes).

We were very talented, always put into competition, and people paid to watch our performances for the concerts. I am old enough that the parades that we performed at were still popular with society-people came out in droves to watch parades back then. I am not sure if these practices are still prevalent in rural America as they were an established part of the Midwest Culture.

The only nervousness I had was that my lip muscles for my trumpet would fade out from rehearsals and then the concerts. The Marine band asked me to join them yet I did not want to join the Marines. The amount of effort that we put into preparing a performance, and the work the conductor/director/gig-coordinator/bus-coordinator/kid shepherd/instrument manager/etc. had to do aged that man three years for every mortal year. Anyone one of us could have ruined things for all of us which employed pressure and built camaraderie. Actual performing was an elevated level of living, but like drag racing, was over too soon. What a wonderful preparation for life. I would do anything for our director Mr. Dale Duensing - would fight through the seventh circle of hell to rescue him. What a selfless, dedicated man.

John Waite and Vince. Wow.

For me it was 1969-1970. I went to see Three Dog Night. It was at the now gone Curtis Hixon hall in Tampa Fl.
I think the year was 1975
Jo Jo Gunne opened for Deep Purple at the old Arena in downtown Chicago
Drove back to Milwaukee at 1am in a blizzard
Five people in a 68 convertible 442, froze my *** off in the back seat.

...some local bands in the second half of the 70s.

First international act I remember was NAZARETH (Fool Circle Tour)...

Great band, I think, I have seen them about ten times again since then...
