Besides the front part of the duster which has the ridge in the center what are the differences in how a earlier 70-71 grille bolts up compared to the 76 or 75 bolts up

The hood is totally different. The hood latch support panel is different. The lower grill panel is different. The attachment points for the grille and headlight surrounds are different.

If you're trying to convert a '75/76 car over to a '70/'71 grille, you can do it. But, you will need a '70-'72 hood, a '70-'72 hood latch support, a '70-72 lower grille panel, a '70-'72 front bumper and bumper brackets, and to drill some new holes in the headlight area of the later front fender for the attaching hardware.

If you have a '75/'76, you will also need to come up with a way to add the nuts to the inside of the frame rail for the non-shock mounted bumper brackets, as a '75/76 car will only have the mount for the shock mount. Which is nowhere near where the non-shock bracket mounts.

The headlight bezels are different too, so, get them with the grille. You'll also need to weld a couple of tabs to the fender to attach the latch support on each side.
