I need some info guys. I have 2 inch chassis headers on my low deck 470 stroker with raised port Stage 6 heads. I have heard that I can use these on a raised block 440 stroker with non raised port heads. I have Indy SRs for the 440/543 stroker. I get that the height may be the same. But what about the width? Has anybody done this swap? Thanks. Kim

The exhaust ports on Indy SR heads on a 440 block will be over 1” higher than the exhaust ports on stage 6 heads on a 400 block.

The SR ex ports are about 3/8” higher than the stage 6’s, then the 440 block is 3/4” higher than a 400 block.

The stock head has been milled about .050”

Basically, your headers are only supposed to fit an RB block with heads that have the exhaust ports in the stock location.

and will any need smoke *** on all cheap and real. match ports is all we buy to do for real BEST FLOW for any one.

So is there an aluminum head that u would recommend for my 543. 11-1 compression figured with 75 cc head and a .040 gasket .625 lift solid roller. 1.5 or 1.6 rockers. I have both. Super Victor and 1250 dominator. Like I said though I have the hookers. Kim

The only two heads that fit that criteria are the EZ’s or the TF270’s.

Like I said though I have the hookers.

Obviously, it’s much cheaper to just use the Hookers than buy new heads.

lm thinking useage should determine head choice.Last week Kim recommended TF heads & im with him.As for header clearance I'm gonna start using cradle spacers when advantages like the hemi cars
In the meantime being from se iowr Im good at unnerstanin everyone reply

I found a pic of when the low deck 470 stroker was in my car with the Stage 6 raised port heads. This is the only clear one but I did have about a 1/2 inch clearance when we had it bolted in. They will never work with a raised block with raised port heads. Kim

I would sure consider "adjusting" the headers you have, before I spend $1000 for headers that fit better.
Have you seen Engine Masters' header bash?

I don’t know if anyone actually offers the “correct” header for:
-A body, stock K frame
-RB block
-Raised port heads

That’s sort of the reason Indy started making “bigger” EZ heads....... to help get around the header issue with bigger cube builds going into A bodies.

I don’t know if they’re “supposed” to fit that combo or not, but I have 2 customers that used the Pro Parts headers with RB blocks and raised port heads in Dusters.
