Let’s see those 255 60 15 rears!!!

Says we need an 8.5"-9.5" rim for a 255. Man that is a wide rim with what we got!

A 255 what? A 255/60/15 fits just fine on a 15x7”.

Heck even a 255/45/17 will work on a 17x8. What 255 you talking about?

Somebody?
Here you go, there was 3/8 of an inch before the leaf spring. this is a 255 60 15x7 with 4.25 backspace! off my 67 barracuda. it fit but tight on the lip as you can see. i can roll the lip, but i rather not and just get a 15x7 with 4 3/8 back space should work.

Thank you! My plans are 245 60 15s, so I shouldn't have an issue.

this leads me to believe I could do 255/60/15 on my 15x7 with 4” bs. fender edges already trimmed ( PO)
69 dart. 8 3/4. Stock suspension

I think that's the max we can run without rolling lips or getting some custom offsets. Remember that we got to take these wheels off at one point..if we aim for 1/2 inch clearance everywhere at ride height, I dont know if we could wiggle then out over the studs?

Before I pulled the trigger on new tires I mounted up a used 225-70/15 for a test fit. I haven't tried the 255's off my Swinger onto my 66 but I bet they would fit without trimming. Seems like enough clearance with the 225's. I'll have to try a 2.55 when the weather gets warmer. Here's the finished product.

on subject, I am running 245 60 14s on my 66. Sure would be nice to get nice wheels with 4.0 pattern, 15 inch.....

Check the video out. 245/60/15 they fit real good. This rim has 4 inch back space, but 4 1/4 is the perfect B/S.

A little over a hundie each at Summit. Wheel Vintiques steelies. I have a set on my 66 with 245/60-15's on a stock 7.25. Fits with plenty of room to spare.

Come on guys let me see those meats!!!!! I know a couple guys running 255 60 15 on a 15x7 with 4 3/8 back space. Tight but it works!!

That's a question you don't asked everyday! However, I'll show you my tires and this is after I was done trying to shove the largest tire inside the fender well.

That's what my high school 65 looked like with unaltered rear fenders! Gabriel high jacker air shocks kept the fender trim jacked up off the 265/60R15 Pos-a-Traction tires on chrome 5 hole rims. totally 80s!
