Looking for a small block 6 bolt neutral balance flywheel thats so worn and heat cracked it cannot be resurfaced, and a small block bellhousing in either aluminum or cast that's cracked or damaged where it cannot be used on a vehicle. Basically junk pieces. I am wanting to put together an engine run/break in stand, and only need these pieces to be able to start an engine.

8 bolt flex plate, front 2 inches of an old torque converter, bell of a 727 or use the whole empty main housing.
 
Thought about the whole flex plate thing . But its thin sheetmetal and a torque converter uses the pump for the other end to support it because of the thin flex plate. Doing as you suggest with a flexplate and gutted converter wont work. A flywheel is more solid.

A 318, 340, 360 uses an 8 bolt crank

I've never seen a stock small block crank with 8 bolts for a flywheel/flexplate.
 
318, 340 and 360 are 6 bolt cranks from the factory.

Use 2 flex plates sandwiched together.
