Wanting to use this cam in a 340 I am building. Normally I go with the cam manufacture's lifters. However in this case I am seeing folks having issues with Lunati lifters. Hoping to avoid this this problem. What other lifters can I use? any ones that will work with a mopar hydraulic etc.?

There is like only two companies in the USA that makes hydraulic lifters.......
 
Far as I'm concerned, Lunati's Micro Trol lifters are the best there are.

Nope. I've used Lunati, Melling, TRW, Crane and MP and never had issues. The only time I ever had a lifter problem was on a Chevy 350 and it wasn't the lifter's fault. A rocker stud backed out of the head and in turn caused a wire clip retainer to pop out of the lifter and ruin the cam.
 
I do know that the micro trol lifters are slightly different that the ones you get in the kit. I bought mine separately and paid a little more for the micro trol. I can't remember the number off the top of my head but the retainers are different in the ones that come in the kit. The micro trol have better retainers . Im using the 702 luniti cam in my 360. Hopefully will be doing the break in tomorrow.

I've used the plain Jane Lunati lifters 3 times and no issues. All 3 were properly broke in.

I used the ones with the 703 cam kit, on day when starting the engine, a lifter did not pump up, plunger was clear down, bent a pushrod and tore up the rocker.

That sucks but I'm not surprised. Anything manufactured is bound to have a few out of box failures. I lost the first cam in my 340 to guide clearance issues. I have the lifter on my garage wall to remind me to check everything. Was the plunger stuck/jamed in the lifter?

Yes, it was clear down.
The engine was broke in, the lifters were fine on initial start up, and run thru temperature cycle, several times.
Replace the lifter with one Lunati lifter, and the engine is still running.

Wow, that is just odd. I cringe every time I break anew engine in. I hate leaks, noises, etc.

Me also, it was fine running on my engine start stand, no leaks noises etc, took it off the stand, put it in the car, and on initial start up it took a crap, it might have been a week or so between starts, but a lifter should not take a crap like that.
It was just plain out defective, thank goodness it came apart at idle, not revving out.
Did not even damage the cam lobe.
 
Every time I do the initial start up for break in on a fresh engine, I as nervous as a long tail cat in a room full of occupied rocking chairs. LMAO I've been lucky so far, I've only had one lifter failure but that was the owners fault. He supplied the lifters & they were cheap chinese junk bought off ebag, the onus wasn't on me thankfully.
 
ok next question which valve springs to use with that cam. i cant seem to find the part number for that cam springs on there web site

If you are referring to the voodoo703, #10200703, that exact question was asked of summit. Three guys responded, with,four different part numbers. One number was named twice, by two different guys, 73195k(1 or 11).
I would check out my current spring diameter, and installed height, and then call lunati tech.

you can google the lunati catalog and it has all the recommended components for their cams. The 10200703 you mention recommends springs 73195 which are dual springs, 1.437 outer diameter, seat load 115 @1.7 installed height, open load 336 @1.15, coil bind 1.050. 402 inch pound springs.
