Super Shops Nostalgia

Had a nice SuperShop in Vegas, around 96? it closed.
Smokin' good price on the 800 cfm Edelbrock.
I told this story before and will again. Talking to the guys that run the Edelbrock road show I was told, The remans are the way to go. New are done on a assembly line. The remans are taken apart, repaired, parts replaced and then reassembled by 1 person. Most are minor like missing clips or linkage wrong and the like. Even though, they get a complete go thru.He said "I hate to say it but the remans have much better quality workmanship. Lots of mark-up in the new,so not a problem selling the so called reman for less." Been buying them since without a problem.
Speaking of reman....
I heard about a warehouse sale at super shops (san bernardino?) In the late eighties. I bought a 250 gph mallory gerotor fuel pump reman, a reman 690 mallory ignition box (NOT the repackaged msd one, the fifte3n pound original one) and the matching reman coil. Pennies on the dollar, i dont remember exactly, but i think all three were under a hundred bucks. (The pump alone is now $600)
The interesting part... the box and coil are still on my 62, working like a champ, and the fuel pump is going into my opel, along with the 496/540. The reman stuff from super shops was amazing!
