Been over 25 years since I bought anything from Super Shops, thought they were long gone but after reading a post here about the return of at least the name figured maybe one day I’d order from them when I needed something. Ordered/shipped these here gaskets by Mr. Gasket on Monday and got them today, two days with competitive pricing. Not bad:thumbsup: Nothing like a little nostalgia!! Now if only P.A.W. would return:lol:

I bought 4 centerline's (pre bead hump) and 4 weldwheels from then in the 80s

And the BFG tires for them!

The super shops here was right by the local cruise scene, nothing better than cruising for a race and hitting super shops late night for some jets. We even had a thriftys with an awesome performance section that was open 24 hours. We would go in the wee hours of the morning sometimes and the only other guys in there would be serious hot rodders doing the same thing.

Super Shops used to be the place to go, cuz everybody was into High Performance and adding to their car. It was a great time. Ran into alot of go fast Bruthas at Super Shops who eventually led me off the streets and onto the Drag Strip.

Talked with them at the Moparty in Bowling Green in the fall, they are definitely back online and hope to open stores again one day...

Super Shops in Houston, TX dealt mostly in Chevy & Ford parts. If you wanted Mopar, they had to "SPECIAL ORDER" it. All special orders required a 50% nonreturnable deposit.

Super Shops in Mundelein, IL had all brands in stock and ready to buy! It closed in the 1990's, can't remember exactly when.

That place always reeked of tire smell, BFG's stacked 5 high like an obstacle course to the counter. Entire walls of intakes and carbs....Cool stuff!

yup teh one that used to be in Chicago Heights IL definitely got more of my money than they should have in the 80s.... BFGoodrich, Erson, and MSD were all teh brands they carried.... I forget what brand of rims they had, didn't look very close at them then as I could never afford them. LOTS of Stupid-shops (as many from the area called them) parts, went into my 75 Cordoba.....

I browsed that store in the mid 80’s when I was piss-poor when you’d hear the Super Shops commercials on likely WLUP or maybe it was Oldies Magic 104 w/Dick Biondi !! The announcer said “Get the Erson cam”!! It was in the early 90’s when I finally did get the Erson cam (a big block TQ20 The Performer) and kit for a 70 D200 Camper Special. Was on North Avenue (64) right? Or was it Lake (20)? Memory is foggy, haven’t been back to that area since then, but Was like a kid in a candy store for sure

I used to go in there everyday on my way home from school in my 63 ChevyII Nova and look at all the chrome headers, valve covers and breathers caps and air cleaners, braided hose dress up kits. Yep I would spend my money there almost everyday.....getting some gum out of the machine for a penny on the way out the door.

Got my first M-50-14's Pro Tracs and 3310 Holley for orange 72 demon340...1988
...great times just dreaming over speed parts...Columbia on two notch rd...store was right below from where all the hookers would all be...those were the days!!! Fast cars and even Faster women!!!

I always liked Super Shops. Although their goofball sales guys at the one in Macon always tried to push the 1.6 rockers with every camshaft sale. It was like they were the best thing ever. I guess they were programmed to. I got a .80 lift Erson for a big block Chevy project and there they were with the 1.6 rockers on the counter. I said "no it has enough lift, thanks." LOL I'm glad to see they're back, even if only online. We need all the vendors we can get.

It's a reman, but that's still an excellent price.
Yeah, most of the other remans that they list are still in the $300-$400 range. What the heck- I took a flier on it, we'll see what it looks like when it gets here. I'll have to explain it to the wife in the morning...

Had a nice SuperShop in Vegas, around 96? it closed.
Smokin' good price on the 800 cfm Edelbrock.
I told this story before and will again. Talking to the guys that run the Edelbrock road show I was told, The remans are the way to go. New are done on a assembly line. The remans are taken apart, repaired, parts replaced and then reassembled by 1 person. Most are minor like missing clips or linkage wrong and the like. Even though, they get a complete go thru.He said "I hate to say it but the remans have much better quality workmanship. Lots of mark-up in the new,so not a problem selling the so called reman for less." Been buying them since without a problem.

Speaking of reman....
I heard about a warehouse sale at super shops (san bernardino?) In the late eighties. I bought a 250 gph mallory gerotor fuel pump reman, a reman 690 mallory ignition box (NOT the repackaged msd one, the fifte3n pound original one) and the matching reman coil. Pennies on the dollar, i dont remember exactly, but i think all three were under a hundred bucks. (The pump alone is now $600)
The interesting part... the box and coil are still on my 62, working like a champ, and the fuel pump is going into my opel, along with the 496/540. The reman stuff from super shops was amazing!

Let us know what you find when it gets there. Looks like an outstanding price to me.

Was there one in Vancouver? I'd been to the one on 82nd in Portland many times. Was there one at Jantzen Beach? Damn I can't remember!!

Yeah, their back room sale were some smoking deals. Some of the stuff had only been on display, some were returns with wrecked boxes but the parts were fine.

Add me to the SS Fan Club! These were on my Cuda when I bought it in 1991 and aren't going anywhere.

The San Bernardino/Highland store on Baseline got a lot of my money back then. I still run my $109 Hooker headers ...
