My Duster has a rather serious corrosion issue on the cowl panel effecting all of the little vent bars. It was caused by leaves that piled up on top of the hood and cowl as the car sat in the driveway in Los Angeles and it’ll have to be dealt with. I have a factory replacement that’s still attached to a large section that was cut out of a wreck, but it’ll require some careful work to separate it. I see that AMD makes this same panel, and if it’s accurate enough it could be a better option. With that in mind I’d love to hear from anyone that’s used their panel. I’m going to need to make a decision on this soon.

Upper Cowl Vent Panel - 67-76 Dart; 73-76 Dart Sport; 71-72 Demon; 67-69 Barracuda; 71-76 Scamp; 67-76 Valiant; 70-76 Duster Cowl Section | AMD 360-1067

Use your cut off from the wreck it will teach you a valuable lesson as to what it will take to do the repair. Just my opinion.

You can trim your donor part so you know whats involved then put the AMD on it. Now you have a part trimmed and ready for selling. Just another option. If your donor is in good shape I too would use it. Trim it first so as said you know what to do on your car .

Not that bad of job, just have lots of clamps! ..

Is sectioning the vent section possible? It would save all the sealing issues.

I would change the whole panel like pic above. This would be great oppotunity to clean up under the panel. You could fix any rust issues that could potetially rust out and leak.

I basically rebuilt a Dart using AMD sheet metal and had very good luck with the fit.

There seems to be a pretty strong consensus forming in favor of the salvaged panel. I guess it's time to get that front section shipped out here to Pittsburgh so I can get busy removing the cowl section. Not what I wanted to hear, but generally what I expected. Thanks for all the advice. That repair done by dadsbee sure looks nice.

I will be doing this soon as well. Perfect time to remove old sealant from the stand pipe tubes, remove any rust that's in there and reseal and paint the lower cowl plenum before putting on the new upper cowl as it's called. Use a good epoxy primer in there like Kirker Duraprime, then scuff and topcoat. You will never have any issues in there again in your lifetime if its dealt with correctly.
