FWIW, Not all scatter shields were sold with block savers. I guarantee you my LW would function without.
Anyway, now you can assemble the pivot, fork, and bearing in the bell, then bolt your bell back onto the trans to test fit for positioning and motion necessary.
You might take a look at your flywheel, disc, cover, and bushing (or bearing) while you're bell is off.
