I have a 73 scamp that is just about finished on the restoration and want to add a custom center console.
Any ideas would be great and pictures of yours would also be nice to see.
Thanks for any input.

Search for cup holder. There are threads with a lot of custom consoles with improvised cup holders.

I made one out of plywood years ago to hold my aftermarket stereo... used cardboard templates to get the shapes right, then transferred to 1/2" ply. Ended up disconnecting the heater/diffuser under the dash, and using the two bolts/studs to attach the "console" to the underside of the dash that way. Radio works, the console doesn't move, but it's not the prettiest.

Now that I'm no longer a high schooler trying to choose between tunes and my car, I'll likely remove it this summer and just enjoy the engine sounds. I'll see if I have any photos, but like I said, it's not the prettiest.

That is one of the nicest home built consoles I’ve seen. Well done.

made it out of fiberglass and stainless steel and was fun but lots of work.

Looks like my SC400's. Cup holder and all! Very nice.

Made some mistakes and had to start over and the wood on the pistol grip took some time.
Thanks for the comments guys makes me happy that you like it.

It doesn’t matter if we like it as long as you do. But I really like it. Most of the time they look like an afterthought and the quality of workmanship isn’t there. Yours looks like it could have been a factory piece and a casual onlooker might not recognize that it’s hand built. I bet you could manufacture those and they would sell.

only one cup holder for the driver everyone else is just gonna have to hang on to there drink. lol
the Japanese 'Soarer' version came with a passenger cup holder that folded out from the pocket next to the radio. Rare in USA, maybe a safety hazard in a crash?

Thought about making more I still have the mold just not finished yet with the one I have so far. Just couldn't see spending 800 bucks on a factory one that I would have to modify to fit my needs.

Just finished the wood trim and not having good luck matching the stain to the rest of the interior it's to red so trying to get the right color stain.

A guy on one of the E-body forums adapted the console from a 2018 Challenger to his Barracuda. Looks like it was born there. Pretty slick.
