What is recommended as a 1 bbl replacement for my '84 (D100) lean burn carb? I will swap the distributor out also, add control box and resistor for the basic electronic ignition type.

On my 85 I used a carb from a late 70s slant. Along with the rest of what you said. 4 pin electronic ignition box, ballast and distributor from about same era as the carb that I used.
Runs fine.
I do have a super 6 setup here, just waiting to get my fresh engine (slightly improved, hopped up) done so it can go in. This 1bbl that I have on there now, is either NOS or a very good reman (which would be unusual in this day and age)
It might have 100 miles on it and has only been on my truck about 6 months. I don't have it licensed yet, so just a few jaunts in the country since I have had it. I can't yet but once I get ready to do my engine swap, I might be able to part with at that point. Right now I just need it mobile under it's own power

When my lean burn went up in smoke I installed a freshly rebushed and rebuilt 1bbl from a 72-74ish a body. With the stock style electronic ignition, the 85 D150 ran great. No jetting problems.
