Anyone ever take a engine out of a Class C motorhome. They are the ones build on Van chassis...

Have a nice 360 to remove. I figure the trans will come out the bottom..Not sure about the engine....

Out the passenger side Door?

ok...figured that is how it is going to come out.....

the 360 in my dart came out of a '76 sportsman aka tradesman van motorhome. It wasnt easy, and I had to get as much off as I could off the engine, and everything that is bolted on the front came off too, but it came out the front. The hardest part was you need to tilt it up as it gets close to the front opening, I had to tilt the engine upwards to get it out. Not impossible but they're might be better ways, the way it was set up for me, it was impossible to access the motorhome from either side, so it was the front or nothing.

A couple pics I took

I have taken the grill out....I got the radiator out...alternator...a/c compressor....

I power washed the motor and trans today...as it has been sitting for several years and the dust was caked on...

tomorrow i am going after the exhaust manifolds and head pipes with a reciprocating saw...and work on getting the trans out....

motor and trans headed to my 88 D250 that has a worn out 318 in it

thanks for the pictures...

I LOL at people on C/L who think "I" am going to pay "them" big money and "I" will part out and "make" big money by buying and parting out their old junk motorhomes........usually with no title and which don't run, meaning, an expensive tow bill if I were to do so.

I made the mistake of picking up motorhome for the 440 and trans. Even with the title I could not get any scrap yard to take it. I couldn't give it away. I wound up spending an entire weekend and cutting it up into a million pieces.

I never understood that mentality. I see people all the time trying to sell "ultra rare" 318s 360s and 440s pulled from motorhomes for 2k plus and I see their listings expire over and over and each time they lower their price another couple hundred bucks.
This motorhome was left on my parents property and the owner (family friend) moved away and left us the title to do what we wish. I am pulling what I can because the price is right and will eventually tear it down to nothing to sell the metal for scrap. It was just stupid luck that my dart came to me with a 360 and 727 so the motorhome donated a backup to both

If your lucky, the 727 will have the long tailshaft like a car, and not one of the stump tailed ones that uses a 2 piece driveshaft with a midshaft bearing.

The 360 and 727 in my duster came from a motor home
Was pretty painless on my end, the seller had pulled it allready, and it had the correct tailshaft

All I needed to do was put on a car oil pan
And a 4 barrel intake
And a 750 double pumper
And some cast valve covers
And rering it
And repaint it
And have the heads redone

I just pulled a 318/727 out of a similar unit and it came out the front with a lift plate bolted where the carb was and the arm of the engine as close as possible.I chopped the front lower crossmember out and it came out pretty much complete with exhaust manifolds, oil pan, starter, motor mounts, etc.
I did pull the PS pump, fan, and alternator off first but I probably could have left those on and still got it out.

If I may provide my $.02 worth, I have a '77 B200 van, and have had the engine out a few times. After you've done it a couple of times, you get pretty good at taking it out the front, and you can do it pretty fast, because all the stuff in the way can be quickly & easily removed. And IMHO it is a lot cleaner pull than taking it out the passenger door.

I built a nice 440 and even ported the heads for my dads motorhome. I didn’t want to do the installation on this one so I loaned my carb plate to a local shop and they installed it for him. Again through through the door.

LOL Well, you bees gettin id did Tony!

working on it..cut the head pipes and got the exhaust manifolds out......and unbolted the driveshaft ....then quit as it was too cold and the ground was wet...lol

Cut out the cowl to fit the hoist and it pulls right out, that's all we had growing up was tradesman vans and that's how i got my first 318 for my old dart.

I just did this today at the pick N pull with a friend of mine. We got the 360 engine out of a ‘91 ram van. Took us 3 hours. Came out the front, it was easier than I thought it would be.

When I worked in a Ford dealership we made an adapter to replace the damper pulley on the front of the engine and ran a chain with a adjuster from the center of the boom to the front of the engine of coarse you had to strip the grill and radiator and the top of the core support off like your pictures show I have probably pulled 100 Econoline engines this way including 7.3 powerstrokes.
