Cause of Excessive Smoke after Adding Gas to Tank?

My 2 cents is everyone is over thinking this. Right of it sounds like the choke is staying closed. Maybe a bad pull off?

Well I think I found the problem; the carburetor. With the car cold, took the air cleaner off, and the top choke plate was open / in a near vertical position. Pulled on the accelerator linkage, and the plate closed / horizontal. Tried staring the car, and it would not. Pressed on the accelerator pedal once, tried starting again, and it started.

Left the car idling, and took the attached pics; no smoking. Drove the car around the block, but without pressing the accelerator pedal, the car was happily cruising along at 20 mph. Had to stomp pedal to slow the revs down. Also noticed signs of leakage from the carb down to the intake manifold.

So how easy is it to rebuild these 2 barrel carbs? What's the best place to get a rebuild kit? What type of carb is this?

I also noticed fumes coming out of the oil cap. Time for a new PCV valve?
