Fenderwell cutting templates !

-
That template is not for the Hedman Husler Headers were all 4 tubes exit through the fender well, the Hookers for early A's I think only have 2 tubes perside that are 1 5/8 tudes through the fender well. It would probably be a starting place though, but the holes are going to be opened up more than that. I thought Hedman stopped making those headers quite a while ago, did they just recently start making them again?

Mike, you need to blow that sheet up & put it in the "How to" section.
I sure do, I still have that paper instructions.
I need to have a good one copied and scan it and then put it in there. Thanks for reminding me brother

19DART66, Mike stated the instructions were for "Hooker Headers".

Okay I'm confused, I thought we were talking about templates for 1Badcolt's Hedman Husler headers. The one from he's pictures that I have on my Dart which need a different cut out than the ones from Hooker.

It's possible that the templates are different due to possibly different tube configuration.

they are way different! The Hookers have 2-3 tubes per side that need the hole, the Husslers have all 4 tubes exiting "angel wing" style. Onve you get the Hookers in your faced with a huge gap where there is nothing and you can get away with about half that if you put them in before the motor. You can 'screw' them in and that hole will be a lot smaller.

would these hedman 1 7/8" headers be to big of tube ? for a built 273 . similar to the d-dart engine. I think that had 1 7/8" tubes with a lot of slip on connections. I had 1 7/8' fenderwells on my 65 dart with a crate magnum sb 402 stroker . Nice headers !

But as stated they are looking for the template for Hedman headers. I just suggested Memike put it in the "How To" section for our members reference.

stroker402 I would have to believe that the 1 7/8" tudes would be to large for the 273 engine, 1 5/8" should be the correct size.

I agree 1 7/8" too big . just read up on the 1966 d-dart 273 . header size was 1 3/4".

I would like to know where to buy these headers too, as far as I knew Hedman stopped making these headers a few years ago( I think maybe 10 years or longer) could be wrong on the years but it's been a while.

hedman husler still makes 1 3/4" fenderwells 75109 by custom order only. the 1 7/8" fenderwells 75110 they have in stock already made .

I am also trying to find a source to purchase the early A Hedman Husler fenderwell headers. Tried hedmanhusler.com and couldn't find any info. tried both part numbers mentioned but came up empty. Any suggestions?

I think this is the best solution. I've had 3 sets of the headman header on a 65 and 66 drag cars. They take lots of dinging to get them to work, even w/o an inner fender well.

My Hedman Husler 75110s. No template came with them. I ultimately welded back in sheet metal to cover my original excessive cuts.

Greetings installing fenderwell hedders on my 66 Valiant does anyone have cutting templates for sale ?
thanks Chris
To the OP:

Just a bit of my experience. As I said in last post, no templates available as far as I know. Mine came with head flanges nearly cut between 1&3, 5&7, 2&4, 6&8. It's best to cut those flanges thru thereby separating 3 sets of pipes on each side. Install can then be done with a minimal of cutting (collector installed after the fact).

My experience dictated notching of both shock towers (ouch) but I did it. They also required cutting where the collector exited the fenderwell to underneath the car. You probably will also encounter rubbing of front tires on header tubes limiting turning radius. I did. Spacing front rim out as far as possible via rim backspacing will help.

Other than that I love these headers. Somewhat of a PITA but worth it. I ran these on both street and strip and they do cook. :) Speaking of cooking they do put a bunch of heat under the hood. They caused my fiberglass hood to warp a bit in places. Sucks.

I had mine coated inside and out by Jet Hot and they have held up well. They still look good although now laying in my floor board as well as a bunch of other parts. :) Just a few thoughts for you to consider.
