Hughes says emphatically YES in all cases on their site for EQ's . I am considering a new pair of iron EQ's from another source. should I have him do them or not needed. dirt track circle track raced. Thank you for your time.

What does the other source say? I would have the checked, I've heard the new EQ's aren't the same as the old ones.
He said he would put em in for extra if I wanted. he did not have an opinion if they were needed or not. I was strickly going by what I happened to see on the Hughes site then I brought that info to him. this pair is one of the last original new zealand ones available according to his ad. For 2K they better be! Others are saying that they are no longer available until the next batch of 100 becomes available,

They had problems with the guides being on the tight side and many people running them from Odessa back in the day would seize an exhaust valve rather quickly. I would check them with the valves you’ll be running and see how they feel.

With that being said, I think bronze would be best but not necessary if the right reamer is run through there.

having bronze guides is usually better for stainless valves. they wear out guides rather quickly. we run K -Line bronze liners, they last a long time. their worth putting in the heads.

Dave told me that by the time they reamed the guide straight enough to be safe from sticking the valve, it was too loose. Thus the bronze liner. I would run em.
