Over budget 318 build

-
1 step forward, 2 back. I bought those SM heads complete so I didn't have to mess around with the springs. Wish I would have thought about it when ordering the cam. Wonder if SM has specs for the heads I have...
Hold your horses bud, let’s do some checking before you spend any more money. Compare the Speedmaster spring specs to whatever Lunati recommends for that cam. I have a feeling you’ll be able to use the ones you have.

Lunati website is fubar right now. Is there paperwork with that new cam that recommends a valve spring part number?

HA. I will for sure! Ill try and find the ones I ordered and see if the specs are anywhere to be found on their site. Don't suppose they would be in the box that the heads came in. Doubt it.

Well fast forward a year and some change and getting back into my build. With the help of @SSG_Karg we degreed the cam in and ended up installed at 107* which is one degree advanced for what lunati spec’d for my cam so good to go there. Summit double roller timing set installed and soon to be installed timing cover and harmonic balancer

Also around November of last year I sent my brand new ootb heads to @B3RE mike to do a geometry kit for me. He found some things on those heads that needed worked on before he would do the kit. So couple months later and new springs, machined saddles, machined spring seats, machined pushrod holes for clearance, PRW 1.6 rockers with a geometry kit and I’m good to go. After I get it assembled on the engine I’ll have to measure for pushrods. After cam break in I’ll have to put the inner springs in and retorque everything down. Little by little it’s coming together.

Looking good buddy. When are you going to show off the cylinder heads with all the bling? Don’t hold out on us!

That “little” 318 is gonna be a beast dude. I can’t wait for you to get it all together and do that first smoky burnout!
