I am thinking about getting some sticky tires for the street for my 72 Duster with a 408. It has 255/60/15 all season right now some Kelly Chargers. It looks like the Mickey Thompson ET S/S would be the best option. Going to go for a 275/60/15.

However it would be kinda nice to find a soft rubber tire that had the classic white lettering. THe Nitto and Mickey Thompson do not. Doesnt seem to be an easy thing to find anymore.

Probably will go with the Mickey Thompson's but would be nice if someone knew of another option.

Not much room for stickers on a forklift tire lol.

IMO those 275/60s require a 8.5 inch minimum rim width for long treadlife with street-type pressures. I didn't try putting them on 10s,
but the 275/50s I ran, I shouldda probably tried my 10s, cuz they didn't last long on the 8.5s.

The reason you don't see lettered tires much in modern, low profile radial tires is because it requires the addition of 2 more layers of rubber to do it. This makes the side wall stiffer and the tire generates more heat. A lettered tire is made the same as a white wall tire. A strip of white rubber around the entire sidewall. This is the covered with a thin layer of black rubber. Afterwards the tire is "buffed" lightly to expose the white rubber.
Real race tires are stenciled like the Hoosier.

Yessir....
Which Hoosiers are those? I like the look.
Yes indeed which Hoosiers are those?
Pretty sure those are Hoosier Quick Time. Similar tire to the quick time pro, but with a street style tread. Street/strip bias tire, with a factory white paint stencil.
Hoosier also makes a drag radial that has white letters (i thought raised white letters, but probably just a paint stencil), but they are almost a full-on race tire.

Yes treaded slicks , and bias ply . I treated the inside of them w/ dawn dish soap/straight , and now running them w/o tubes , so far their holding air .
THey bite pretty good. Haven`t been on the dragstrip yet tho, 295 60 d15 29'' tall , they make a 325 60 d15 that is only 27.8 , I think.
Both are advertised to work on a 8 to 10'' rim , mine are 8 1/2'' rims now, had them on 15 x 8'' prostars w/ 4 1/2'' back spacing , but had to make some wheel spacers to clear.
