Headliner installation coming up for '65 Formula "S". Do we need 1", 2", 3" or a variety of spring clamps? Are Irwin clamps strong enough? What to use? Thank you.

i used a whole bunch of office binder clips on mine as i go till its all dry. then i put the factory ones on when i was done. they are cheap and dont have to be huge.

Best thing to do is buy 1-2 yards of pinchweld (hope you call it that in the USA as well or is it windlace?)
Cut some various lengths say 2-6 Inches and you’ll find that this will work better than any clamp!

When the upholstery guy who did mine (66 barracuda) he used a variety of 1” clamps same as the clamps the original poster pictured. He would glue, let it stretch a few days and returned to stretch it again until it was good. He said his were just Harbor Freight versions.

As for pinch weld molding that’s a great idea for some of the areas. I’m wondering if the metal clamp inside would damage the headliner. Putting it on and removing it a few times to get it tight. I need to try that.

I will be watching this thread, hope it turns into an install hiw-to. Turns out my wife has been hoarding theses clips, and will be gathering more. They are floating around all over at her work, and they arent using them any more. With everything going digital there is way less paper.

i was quoted 800 dollars to install a headliner. so i bought one off of ebay for 69 dollars free shipping. i screwed the first one up so i bought another for 69 and got it installed right the second time.

turns out you can buy many headliners at 69 bucks a pop before you get even close to the 800 i was quoted for an install

I used a bunch of old pant hangers from Walmart. They gave me a handful of them out of the fitting room, I broke off the clip parts (two per hanger) and used them to secure the edges of the headliner.

Nothing needed other than a couple cheap dollar store clamps and the headliner retainer clips the factory used. Do not spray glue! You can glue it along the edges using a can of contact cement after you have it all in place... assuming glass out to install.
