Main shaft rust- what to do - see pic
Hello, I disassembled an a833 which had some water in it at some point and where the rollers on the input shaft meet the main shaft snout there’s some rust on the main shaft. See the pic. This is the bad spot, the rest of that snout is fine. Can I sand this down a bit more and polish it up? I don’t think I’ll get it perfect, does it matter? Does it need to go to a machine shop - perhaps they can sand/polish it better on a lathe? Or is there something else I should do? It’s $300 for a replacement on brewers, that too much. Let me know what you think.
