After owning my 69 Dart GT for about 20 years I've finally decided to do a restoration. It's a built 440/727. I posted about getting it back on the road last year. Well I have a friend (another member here) that's doing the majority of it. He'll do all the bodywork/rust repair and metal altercations. I'll take care of drivetrain and interior. New 1/4s, rockers and other panels were bought last year. I just dropped off the doors that I stripped apart yesterday. So it begins.

Go getm' ! If I can make a suggestion : get buy/make a rottesierie and blast the bottom . Please do your best work , it's worth it in the long run . I know some wicked pissa Mopar people in R.I. area . look them up

Awesome car. Will be following. Back in the day (circa 74) a friend of mine bought a 69 GTS. Weird car, when he got it there was a 318 2brl under the hood... semi crash box with a Dana packing 4:88s. It was same color as yours. One day we were tinkering under the hood and I noticed one (only one) tag riveted on the inner fender which read (WTE) "THIS VEHICLE IS NOT INTENDED FOR STREET USE". I pointed this out and we surmised, based on trans & diff that it must have been one of the factory built for race only HEMI cars. After further investigation we found plates where the cage was attached. We were kids and had no idea. Not sure what it really was, but definitely not a 318 2brl car...

Nothing much to report lately. Bad weather in the northeast. At least I decided on a color. 69 Y2 yellow.

Should be a standout color. Like the bright colors on these cars. You might also consider something to break that bright color up - a black stripe or black vinyl top maybe.

I'm going with the black bumblebee stripe and black fiberglass hemi hood.

The original color was a medium green. I wasn't totally hooked on red and I already have my blue Sport Satellite convert so I decided on the pale Y2 yellow.

So here's the update. Now that Tincup is all healed up from his bad luck with shoulder surgery and a few other health issues, we are at it again. I've decided to stick with the 69 Dart red. So far bodyworkwise, both doors are done. Passenger fender is done. Had to buy a new drivers fender. Waiting to pick it up in a couple weeks. Trunklid is done. After a year of sitting, the 440 fired right up. It is now in the garage and the passenger rear 1/4 is cut out to reveal the mess behind it.
