In the process of rebuilding an old carb and its filthy. I got some regular oreillys brand carb cleaner spray and it doesnt do the best job of getting the crud off. Anyone got any other suggestions for what they like that may be stronger?
Thanks!

Try Barryman's B-12... Available at AutoZone... It does smell strong, so use in well ventilated area... It gets carbon deposits off pretty well...

The OReilly regular (not green label) is about the strongest there is.

Non chlorinated. That's the one you do NOT want.
I am looking at the oreilly stuff right now. They have 2 different ones but in identical cans, but one has higher VOC's than the other..which one would be stronger at removing the crud, the higher or lower VOC?

Higher. They must have changed the can then. One was red label and the other was green.

Make sure its listed as "not for sale in commiefornia"

Thats always a sign it works

ok thanks Rusty!

My apologies. I don't know why I told you all this. It's all bullshit. Forget everything I posted. My eyes saw carburetor cleaner but my brain saw brake cleaner. My bad.

Yes, I have to second the Berryman B12 for carburetor cleaner. It's about the best.

Damn I'm gettin old.

I had a gallon of that stuff for years, turned into something from hell when I opened it last, "The foulest stench is in the air
The funk of forty thousand years..." MJ.
Turned a gold irridate Holley carb into a grey ghost, but it sure was clean.

Haha, no problem buddy, i deal with myself everyday..like you said, getting older can be rough! Cant tell you how many times i am tearing the house apart looking for something when its in my hand the whole time!

I used sno bowl which had hydrochloride acid which would strip the finish off a Holley down to the pot metal in ten I had to check it every few minutes I once used it on an outboard carb and all was left was brass fittings
Been unable to find it

1 gallon pail of Gunk Carb cleaner. It comes with a basket inside to soak parts. I use it in a heated ultrasonic unit. Works pretty good. Andrew

Old magazine article said Vanish toilet bowl cleaner...just don't leave it in there too long or it too will...vanish.
