66' Barracuda and 273 with headers

Well, I gave it a few days to see what the chicken coop says. I’m pretty happy with the discussion. SN: I have a rather large chicken coop and plenty of chickens- so no dis-respect. It is amazing how many sayings actually mean something in the real world.

So I’m going back a few post. So the goal with this automatic is a street able stall. The overall plan is a street-able 273 that is not a pig to drive. The idea is to make horse power with simple procedures and not rely on special high lift cams or crazy compression. The pistons are above deck pistons under 11 to 1 range. Because the bore is smaller - you can run pump gas with higher compression. The heads are the 66’ Commando closed chamber heads with great porting, bowl work and I believe oversized 5/16” flat head valves. ARP bolts everywhere, custom made head gaskets, wind age tray, possible valley pan. Cranks is steel 273 with a lot of polishing. Balancing to the weight of a hair. Again- friction is our enemy.
I would like to find a set of 1-5/8” headers to 2” collectors. I may end up making a set in my welding shop. As for oiling mods- with mechanical rockers and cam- we are researching that as we speak. 6,000rmp is probably going to me what I am aiming for on limiter. All depends on Dyno results. Builder wants this finished up in a few weeks So I should have numbers before spring.
