Aluminum slant block?

Thanks for that tip. I'll remember that

First giveaway that it’s not aluminum is the block has freeze plugs. Aluminum blocks didn’t have freeze plugs.

Second visual giveaway is there’s a casted emblem in the side of the block, Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler, DeSoto.

Aluminum blocks were 1961 only however there were some 62 Dodge Lancers and Valients that ended up with the block.

Aluminum slants used a special cast iron head and head gasket because the water passages were different on the aluminum block. Easy way to tell is the head will have the word “Special” cast into the head along the intake/exhaust manifolds side of the head.

Bestinfo source for aluminum slants is Steve Mangete.

Sold my last aluminum slant to a guy in Nebraska.
