yeesh with the orange dash! Maybe black on black...chrome paint is a hit or miss, but if you line the facing edges of the gauge pods with chrome mylar pinstripe tape, it will pop. $200 is not a bad price for a completely new piece that is correctly vacuum chromed. Maybe a few less Pacifico's next month? :)
IIRC a completely dry gloss black base coat will give a chrome paint a fighting chance for any sense of depth and color. did mine years ago with "bumper chrome" paint (only stuff they had back then) and it is not satisfactory. I'll end up doing it again.
I wouldnt advise skipping the Pacifico. Its structural and load bearing.
