Could not keep my fuel pickup from leaking. The piece of crap China lock ring was .050 thick and the fuel pickup never tightened. I found a company Restoration Parts Source in California who had a stainless one in stock and it was .070". Perfect, stopped the leak by apply the correct pressure to the gasket. I called them 10 minutes before they closed and the guy had it in the mail within 5 minutes of the mailman coming by. I am driving my car this weekend instead of waiting until next week. $23 for the ring and two day delivery. Dont buy junk ones for $5 that dont work. The pic is the plain steel one that's crap. Most Mopars use the same one except some late 50 models.
Thanks RPS

Check with SGBARRACUDA, I'll bet he has a stack of OEM lock rings.

Detroit Muscle Technologies has the correct thickness retainer and the correct material seal.

I used 2 gaskets and solved the same issue. don't know if my locking ring is OEM as the OEM sender was replaced 15-20 years ago with aftermarket. (since fixed)

Seemed like the tabs on the ring on the tank was also a bit out of shape on mine.

FYI

Found some photos I took.

an aftermarket lock ring I had was 0.046"
an OEM I have was 0.065"
and a aftermarket gasket was 0.076"

Same retainer that I bought. Only problem is that I tried calling them 8 times over 3 days and they would not return my call so I found RPS and got the part faster than Detroit Muscle could return a phone call.

Yea that can be frustrating. Jim says he and his wife ship 100-200 orders a day. Email works better I have found as he looks and replies to that at night while watching TV or something.

Yes buty if you cant return a call in 3 business days hire someone. I wont call them again. I'm glad he has so much business. Again hire someone
