There is no way to know the actual assembly date.

The date one the tags is an expected due date, but lots of factors could affect whether a car was built earlier or later than that date.

I’m looking to see what engine, transmission, paint colours etc the car was built with...

31 = 273-2
5 = Automatic
BB1 = Black
E = Blue (inside door)
H5C = White Bench

110 Scheduled build date

Alan

Two I didn't know off the top of my head.

235 = Tires (size/style)
AX 2 = Axle Ratio

Alan

Black with blue & white interior???? That is a very weird color combo. Can that be right?

I'd have to check my book later, some combos were not available, some labeled not recommended.

I wasn't doubting you, Alan, just surprised that that combo would be available. I wonder what's in the car now? There seemed to be black paint on the tag, all right.

I was just curious if it was on of the not recommended ones like turbine bronze with a copper interior.

I bought the car on Saturday. The previous owner had it for 25 years. It looks like this

Thanks for all the replies. The doors are still painted blue, blue door panels and dash pad too. I wonder what the bucket seats are from. Does anyone recognize them?

Any way you look at it that’s a cool car… but I’m definitely biased

I don’t recognize the buckets but they look like late 60’s Mopar to me.

Some time back I plugged the numbers on my fender tag into the 67 to 68 Mopar Fender Tag Decoder on MyMopar Mopar Codes - MyMopar.com - Mopar Part Numbers . Unfortunately, the links to the decoder and many other tools on the page are not working today, maybe someone who’s a member over there can find out what’s going on. Regardless, I did find another direct link to the same tool which does work today MyMopar - Mopar Forums & Information - 1967-1968 Mopar Fender Tag Decoder

Even though the instructions say to use extra spaces to align the codes it doesn’t work when they are lined up visually. In fact, it limits the number of characters you can type in the field but it seems to work when you count the spaces using the space bar, must be a function of graphics properties. The decoder seems to work quite well except for the “unknowns”, I guess it has a few gaps in it’s database.

I ran the numbers I see on your tag:

So, according to this decoder I guess we can add a little more detail for the possible original state of your car. Obviously, the interior could have been changed and the unknown seats are good evidence of that.

Here’s my tag and a snapshot of the report the decoder gave me, from everything I know about my car I believe the decoder is correct, except the “unknowns” which I can find no further info on.

Your post actually caught my eye because it looks like our two cars were very likely built within a couple of days of each other but as Alaskan_TA says there’s a lot of factors affecting the actual build date so probably within a week of each other for sure!

Good luck with your project, it looks like a way better start than I have!

That decoder can be a PITA, lining up the letters and numbers can take a couple attempts. But for the most part, it works well. Not all the codes do show up, but you can usually figure them out using the codes that are listed elsewhere on the site.

Thanks for all of this. As mentioned previously, it’s such a weird colour combination. Black exterior with blue and white interior!

Some are the same as mine. I can't recall exactly how or where this info came from.
Tire 235 = 6.95 x 14 WSW (white side wall), Quantity 5.
The number under R would be radio. Maybe this one came w/o radio.
The number 4 under T is last digit of the paint sales code 294

Axle 2 I'm going to guess is 7.25 'cause my '67 notch was a 225 slant six with a 7 1/4 axle.

Looks like it could be original radiator. That's nice. If it has a fan shroud, that's a one year only combination.
Also looks like the white plate wiper motor same as in my '67. You won't find that in the '67 books. Best I can tell it was used '66 well into '67 or maybe it was that one facotry used them and another didn't.
The VIN will show which factory made the car.
Overall looks like a good car.

Head rest style looks to be '68 or '69 for bucket seats.
I don't see the seat back catch release. Is there one?
'67 didn't have a catch. '68 did.

67 buckets would have a chrome-trimmed steel shell back to the front seats, and the optional headrests were different. OP's seats look like 68-9 seats/headrests, but re-upholstered in a non-stock pattern.

Thanks for all the replies. The car has front disc brakes. Is there any way of knowing if it left the factory this way?
