I used a method I saw on another thread. 1/8 drill bit slowly and then a dry wall screw. With a pair of pliers pulled on the screw straight not to jar metal on metal and it came off.
I used the 1974 manual and with chalk went a little overboard and drew a straight line on the column metal from the firewall all the way to the ps gear box. Hope it goes in straight!
