1969 Barracuda Formula S NOS Tachometer

-
It's only new once. Both the 67 and 69 have upgraded tach boards. I know that part.
But there are original used tach’s that can be rebuilt better than NOS. More accurate and more reliable and durable. Even if it’s working now you’re taking a chance with sensitive electronics. Things corrode and deteriorate just sitting on a shelf.

The face can be repainted and silk screened to look fresh new. Not 50 years in a box new.

Know your part.... the rivets sometimes on rebuilt tachs can look off. BUT on 67-71 tachs the rivets are hidden. Also repro gauge needles can look off. Usually in the center of them... on these tachs the center is also hidden.

some people foolishly buy NOS parts cause they don’t know how or where to restore and rebuild used parts.

I'm working on my challenger now. Making it priority.
Took 727 trans to rebuilder for inspection everything looks good except the rear band. So ooook
I gave him my B&M valve body turns out my trans is 75 and my B&M kit is for earlier 727.... uggghhhhh

You know that "Pretty close" isnt NOS.
Maybe I'm way off, what's the going price of used? I havent seen one listed for a while....I'll say $300?? So what's NOS?

here you go.... asking $450
  • 150 mph speedo -very desirable
  • Tach
  • All other gauges - commonly go bad and are sold here
  • Circuit board -seen them sell here too
[SOLD] - rally instrument cluster

@1969383S what dont you agree with? Not that I really care, I made a few statements in prev post. Maybe 1 or all?
I will say it again, I'd love to see links of orig 68,9 tachs for sale?? Anybody?
Ok, then, try this... show me an aftermarket tach that is an exact cosmetic duplicate??
We've gone from discussing NOS tach prices to $100k a bodies lmao.
I will say NOS electrical would have to be proven to be working properly for full value.

Steve you don’t have to!

Buy the tach at $500. The after market A-body units do not look that far off in the scheme of things!

I assume you want your beloved fish back on the road! Do what is right for you!

Working on the 69 here and there, but honestly dont give a rats a$$ about it anymore. Hoping that my gradual progress will help it sell.
Still no links? Aftermarket, well they LOOK aftermarket, no offense but it's like removing a column shift lever and leaving the collar on lol.
It's all good.
Heres a link from here. Identical tach...

Classic Industries sells a direct replacement in either 60 or 90 view, similar to the originals and compatible with Electronic ignitions!

Have not seen any pics other than an NOS tach, some valued at 500!

I agree with 4spdragtop that those aren’t very accurate reproductions. Shameful as it would have been just as much effort to get them right.

I know Shannon at Redline Gaugeworks offered to help them afterwards

does the original poster have the box it came in like that?

the white lettering looks brighter and more consistent than the OP’s. Maybe just lighting.

within NOS parts, condition is still a factor.

Well that sucks as much as you have put into it!

Do not disagree but the question still stands $500 for an NOS that still needs work! And for a car that brings what? $500 can go a long way to more important things!

NOS sells, no matter what. I agree I could be better off putting the $$ into something else. For me right now my psychosis is door latches lol.
I put an exact example of the OP's tach $650 listed on here.
Agree to disagree, everyone's at a different stage in their builds, so priorities are all different. Theres a member on here paying ridiculous $$ for NOS duster parts.
