Imma Leave This Right Here......

Actually guys. The blood was real back then. They would precut making it easier to bleed mostly from the forehead. If you look at some of these guys. The scars are still there.

The geriatric bell for most of us.

Yup. I remember Rowdy Roddy talkin about that in an interview. .

Thanks for the memories RRR! Great times for sure. True wrassling story right here, ask me how I know. So during the seventies North Carolina was the Mecca for all things professional wrestling. It just so happens there are several Marine Corps and Army bases there. You want to fire up the troops, advertise a Russian or Iranian tag team. So a Marine I know scores some nose bleed seats to watch the matches highlighting the Russian tag team with a combined weight of somewhere North of 800 pounds. They would whip the crowd of young drunk super patriotic Marines into a frenzy of mouth frothing dog barking mayhem. Keep in mind this is the seventies! So at end of the night they challenge any Marine in the audience to enter the ring with them and go toe to toe. If any of you know a Marine you can imagine how this turns out. While the match may have been choreographed a bit I can assure you the post match challenge to Marines was not. Those two guys beat the holy stuffings out of several Marines, and I mean beat them. As me and my buddy were making our way to the ring for our turn we watched multiple guys get very unceremoniously tossed into the crowd by these two “Russian” wrestlers. I think they were from Texas actually! Hah! Anyway thru the tequila fog we watched one of our buddies come sailing at us with his recently broken arm and we decided to, in a fit of true patriotism and courage, to wad our cups up and throw our beers at the Russians! Holy smokes they were huge! Hah! Anyway thanks again RRR for all the memories!

George Becker and Johnny Weaver were the good guys for a long time. Who was the 2 bad guys where one of them supposedly had some kind of thing in his boot that he would do some stupid little stomp dance when the ref wasn't looking to activate the "thing"... and then kick his opponent, who would then act like he was dying? I can't remember their names. Then there was Swede Hanson....and the Anderson Brothers, and who can forget Brute Bernard and Skull Murphy! Ivan Kolov (sp?) was another one. I actually met Ivan Kolov in Fredericktown, Ohio at Wal Mart, when my wife and I went shopping with her uncle. He was making an appearance to help raise money for some local charity. Talked to him for about 10 minutes....was a nice old guy.

I saw all these fools strutting around CNN Center back in the day!

That should tell you something about them! Just saying!

Junkyard Dog, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Ricky The Dragon Steamboat, and Bret The Hitman Hart. I watched those guys a bunch.

Curt Henning was another one from Minnesota, we had quite a few come out of the state.

I, on a personal note, lost that business at CNN and TBS in the 2k’s after decades of rewards and pocket cash! I do not miss it at all, and glad the competition is dealing with the liberal fools at both sites today! The wrestling falls right in line with this stupidity! Just a thought and opinion!

If I ever see some of yall walkin down memory lane in one of your threads, I think I'll **** all over it too.

Hollywood wantabies tied to liberal means!

I sincerely apologize but truth is real!

Yeah but you don't have to **** up a good thread pissin all over people to prove it. I haven't and wouldn't do that to you. You're just being an ***.

Once I got passed 10 years old I think it was, I knew it was fake wrestling but..... You actually have to be physically fit to the high athletic level. Be able to perform all that you see them do.

Once you realize it is fake and don’t understand that it is ENTERTAINMENT ONLY! Then your missing the fun aspect of it all. It’s a soap opera called WWF or whatever it is now or later on instead of “As the World Turns”, “Days of Our Lives” or ......
"As the Stomach Turns"

WOOOOOOO!!!

I met Ric Flair at a Perkins in Orlando in the late 80's. I was sittin at the table with my parents and I kept lookin over in disbelief. Pop says to me, "go over and talk to him when he's done eating." So while I patiently wait I keep looking over at him. Bout 5 mins later he sees me lookin at him and motions to me to come over. I shake my head no. lol He motions again and Pop saw him this time and "says go over there!" So I go over there and Ric says to me, "kid, why didnt you come over here the first time I motioned to you?" I says "Pop told me to wait till you were done eatin'." He belly laughed so loud the whole place heard him. He tells me "you have some great parents." I says "I know." and I smiled. Shook his hand and thanked him and went back to my table. He came over to our table when he was leaving and told my parents that they have a great kid and that they are great parents. They graciously thanked him and he gave me a signed picture of him and he left. Then Pop turns to me and says "who the hell was that??" LMAO!!! Good times. Great guy that Ric Flair.
That's an awesome story man! I've heard he's a cool dude.

I remember them well. And two of the bad guys were Bronco Lubich and Aldo Bogni along with their manager Homer O'Dell who would whack their opponents with his cane whenever he got a chance. Another couple of bad guys were called the Bolos. And there were the Kentuckians... two big bearded guys with a combined weight over 700 lbs. I saw them once at Atlantic Mills.. a large department store in Charlotte, NC when I was a kid in the 60s. My grandfathers both watched this every weekend.
Just remembered Rip Hawk and Wahoo McDaniel.

At the risk of sounding young...my favorites were the road warriors

And another was Nelson Royal. I just read on his family business website that he passed away in 2002.

It has been super cool to read which guys remember which wrestlers. A dead give away to the posters age! Hah! With all the folks from North East on this Forum how is it we have skipped Pepper Gomez? Dickey Slater, still no mention of Dusty Rhodes? Jerry the Brawler, Sgt Slaughter. Jake the Snake. And I mean cmon Chyna? Holy smokes she made me pant! Hah!

Old Wahoo, now there was a guy that knew how to bleed and draw blood! How do you think he would fare in this politically incorrect bunch of crap today?
