Hi,
Any body had their their stock 14" rallyes widened?
I would like to stay with the stock look but more tire under the rear, how wide can you go 14 X 8, 14 X 9?
Any pics appreciated.
Thanks.

No...didn't have them widened but when I bought my Duster it has, on the rear wheels, 14 x 7 rims. Never had them off to measure so I'm not sure if that is correct but they are wider than the front Rallyes. Both rims are small bolt pattern units and look stock except for the wrong trim rings, no clear coat on the rear rims, and radials vs. Polyglas -- but otherwise they are "stone stock". <grin>

Had mine widened to 14 X 8 so a 265 50 14 would go on.

I had mine widened to 14X7 and used BFG T/A 245 60 14, (tire height 25.57") and 205 70 14 BFG T/A on the front, (tire height 25.30"). I wanted to stay with stock appearance, equal, or very close to, tire height, yet gain a wider tire on the rear and have trim rings that fit correctly, no gap.

I have mine widened. Stock small bolt pattern 14's. I have two sets. One widened to 9" & the other widened to 10". I'll try to dig up some pics....

Here is a pic with the 9" wide wheels. They are sporting 275/ 60/14 quick times...

Here it is with the 10" wide wheels. Sorry about the crappy pics, my computer crashed awhile back & I lost a pantload of my pics.

I had to go out to the shop to snap a decent on for you. 9" wide with 275 60 14 quick times...

I've been thinking of doing this also. Anyone know a ballpark on cost and who does this kind of thing? Thanks...Dean

I'm not sure what modification would cost but the ones from stockton wheel were reasonable. I stayed with a 14 in the front and a 15 x 8 with a 5.5 back space on the rear. It may be cheaper just to buy custom wheel? I'm not sure. I'd price it out.

Im not sure about the cost either. The previous owner had them done in the early 90's....

For those in Vancouver B.C. area try Greens Automotive in Richmond B.C. they do all kinds of rim mods for a reasonable price & very good quality work.

did a pair once when lack of funds prohibited me from buying new ones; took 2 14'' rusty wheels [centers were good-rallys] ground welds off on back side of wheels [time consuming] then with bench grinder ,took centers and took excess weld off, had a set of old fenton 10 '' mags did same to them[have to be steel-weldable] [wheels need to 1st be chkd for straightness/warpage] laid 10'' wheel on level surface and placed prepped center to desired backspacing, then with 3' level on wheel and 6'' level on center took black majic marker and marked each point[ there are 4 points to be welded] each point needs to be marked to match each other, such as 1-2-3-4 on center and 1-2-3-4 on inside of wheel for matching when u weld it, just tack weld each point then mount wheel on car[no tire] and spin and chk for straightness, if wobly, redo or chk wheel for straightness, if done properly will work 1st time, if all is good then weld backside but only small increments at a time[ 3/4'' then go to opposite side of wheel and weld then come back to each point in sequence] dont get carried away with long welds 1 3/4--2'' at each point is sufficient, then take to tire shop and have put on balancer without tire, if not balanced with in 1/2 oz have them mark where it needs weight and weld more in that area at the weld points [backside of course] then recheck, one more thing which i shouldve mentioned 1st, weld up valve stem hole and grind down for u will most likely relocate new one[ just redrill] had them blasted and primed-painted- ran crap out of them for 2yrs street and trac since have sold car but is still going after 4yrs. no problems, did all this in my garage and help from local tire shop, aint something I'd want to do all the time but it can be done , I'm sure I'm not the 1st to do this, warning requires lots of time and lots of checking and rechecking must be precise but very doable, just take ur time and dont get in a hurry---just my 2 cents worth,[ cheaper to just buy the freakin wheel.versus the time and effort...but when ur poor and its cold outside and u want wheels a man will go to great lengths to accomplish a goal for his MOPAR

That thing has the perfect stance.

Oh.. and one more thing ,u can use the center in either a 14'' wheel or a 15'' wheel for they are the same, meaning if u want to make a 14'' wider rally or a 15'' rally the center piece is the same in both wheels, dont think so? check it out!!!!

Well I found a local place to widen my wheels. They're charging $125 to add a 3" band to two wheels and I'm getting 245-60-14 TA radials. I'll post pics when I can. It'll be about a week though...Dean

So keeping the backspace the same and adding 2 1/2 " to the offset side is Ok for a 1972 duster with stock 8 3/4rear end with no tire rubbing? 14" rims. And has anyone used greens in richmond for this on their mopars ralley rims?

the centres on 14 or 15" are the same.Usually they just take the centre out of the narrow rim and weld
it into a wider 14" or 15" rim with the backspace you request. That works on plain steel wheels too and lets you keep small bolt pattern.

wheel vintiques have them in what ever width and offset you want, powder coated the correct silver to boot
