how do you feel about electric performance cars?

-
tesla claims if you plan your trip properly that there is a charge station about every 172 miles. and their super chargers at the charge stations will give you a 80% charge in 15-20 minutes..

was just a dealership the other day.. their model 3 would go like 250 on a charge. if you bought the bigger battery option it would go about 350 miles on a charge they said.. car is really nice.. i'd like to schedule a test drive.. they are still too expensive though..
And who here isn't of an age that doesn't have to take a pee about every two and a half to three hours of driving...

If in 20 years only electric vehicles are produced and in about 60 years completely take over... Wouldn't there be a higher demand for racetracks to put the internal combustion cars on? Would I be 110 LOL and putting my duster on a trailer pulled by my electric truck to go to the racetrack?...

generator :)
May be hard to run that generator without gas. Not today, not tomorrow, but one day. NY is already trying to pass legislation to impose surcharges on all fossil fuels. This is meant to push forward the solar, windmill industry. Prices for fuels will mean that purchases of fuel will be out of the grasp of low and middle income households. Homeowners will also incur the costs of converting their homes from natural gas and #2 fuel oil. There is a bigger picture than just charging your car.

Does the damn thing come with a AA/F soundtrack and 2000W amplifier

I don't believe much now. I definitely don't believe 172 miles between stations where I go. Or when that would even happen. Some places don't even get cell coverage. Plus I don't put all my eggs in one basket. We have natural gas stove, oven, hot water. Catalytic fireplace insert for wood heat. Saved us when the electricity was out for a week one winter in Maryland. My neon gets 40 mpg and is a blast to drive. Highway car is 2018 Charger R/T. If you are in a city, an electric car might be OK for someone else, not me.

like i said. you need to plan your trip accordingly.

I don't know.... Texans are freez'n and dying. No power. I imagine a car /van with a tank full of gas would keep them warm at night. Would have plugged in the Tesla, but....

.

unless that was out of gas too..:)
Just say'n... If Tesla wasn't so subsidized they'd been out of business. Could you imagine if the Gov subsidized muscle cars instead of imposing gas guzzler tax? Power grids cannot keep up now, black outs in high population areas. Wind doesn't always blow, but gas will always flow. The sun may not always shine, but oils been in lamps since the Old Testament times.

C'mon now, that makes entirely too much sense

What are the prices for plugging in at these charging stations?

So wait, there's going to be gas for muscle cars to race in in approx 60 years?
i thought we were talking about today not 100 years down the road.

Appears we're down the road from today..........

What is rarely mentioned is the manufacture and disposal of the batteries. Where do the rare earth materials /minerals come from in the manufacture and who controls the supply of those required materials? What is the environmental impact on surrounding population and ground waters of extracting those materials? What is the toxicity of those materials and their impact on cancer rates? How do we safely dispose of all these batteries once they reach end of useful life? What are the risks and costs to the consumer and general population versus the benefits of using battery powered vehicles compared to other alternatives like hydrogen fueled or natural gas fueled vehicles?

Do what you are told and stop ask'n questions. This ^ post will put you on the domestic terrorist list. :D

that may be true but its the governments way of R&D,, can't argue that tesla didn't push electric cars leaps ands bounds in the little time they have been around..

as far as the electric grid goes, that has been out dated for decades. when was the last time the us build a power plant? no one wants nuke here or near them.. wind and sun are good to subsidize what we use now but isn't the total answer just yet. someone will come up with an idea along the way. someone much smarter then myself thats for sure..

weird. the board just freaked out for a few minutes...

if i remember correctly i think he said 11-15 dollars for a 15-20 min charge that gives you about an 80% charge..

Batteries get recycled, simple as that

Gas will flow until we run out. It's not some bottomless resource. Fresh water is becoming a fleeting resource by the day as well. Natural gas and "clean" coal are destroying the ice caps and glaciers and if you ever go to Alaska, you can see it for yourself. Pretty depressing stuff. I love my muscle cars, but I think hot rodders should embrace EV's. You could definitely build a nasty Duster with an EV drivetrain, and you won't have to drive all over BFE to find ethanol free 93 octane

Why does the US allow China and Europe to dictate what we build. We won the wars. And yet, they shove the half assed metric system down our throats, they determine what we drive because they pass laws over there, and the weak assed transglobal cabal that has been running American big business starting right after the civil war just jump in line.

No one was clamoring for this junk. For those of you who don't know your history, electric powered surface transportation LOST at the turn of the 20th century because it was useless. Now, the global warming hoax and retarded freaks who think they can control the weather are forcing this ignorant crap down our throats.

It's time to face facts. No one would buy an electric car if 1. We didn't have a bunch of morons who are influenced by a semi retarded European 13 girl who can't vote, drink, drive a car, sign a contract but she is somehow an expert on climate??? Really? WTF? And people actually buy into this ****? Damn.

And 2. If the government, which knows nothing, can do nothing, can build nothing would get out of the auto industry, gasoline powered surface transportation would rise to the top, in efficiency, power and reliability. It always has.

Instead, we give a multi billionaire freak HUGE subsidies (that's corporate welfare people) to build something no one wants.

Piss on electric cars. That's de-evolution.

Also, if you are old enough to have lived through the transnational cabal's wholly manufactured "oil crisis" in 1973-1974 then you know what a lie that was. Yet, that was the first big push to get Americans out of nice, fun V8 rear wheel drive cars into European Marxist inspired 4 cylinder FWD **** boxes. And it worked. Then public education went to work doing its baleful job of Marxist indoctrination convincing little retards that their fore fathers were criminals and earth hating bigots because they drove cool cars, rode motorcycles and had a standard of living to make the world neon green with envy. And look what we have just one generation later. This bullshit.

And don't even get me started on "peak oil" and "fossil fuels" which are both lies. Most people have no idea what crude oil is and where it comes from.

You need to go outside more and get off of Facebook
