The reason I ask if this could be done is because there are so many Nice Durango's and the Dakotas in this area with blown 4.7. And you can find the 5.9 and the 5.2 magnums in Dodge pickups that the bodies are just rotted away.
Yeah I've seen a few myself around here. Do you know why? I can tell you. I talked to a Jasper Engine rep several years ago. The oil pickups for the 4.7 were too small. Oil cooked on the sides and eventually restricted the oil pickup causing engine failure. He said they put over sized pickups on all the 4.7s and that solved the issue. Regardless, I never liked the 4.7. Everybody I've known that had one hated it because it was a gutless wonder and got crap for mileage. Or spun a rod or main bearing. lol
