What is your 451 stroker combo?

I have another 451 I got with a 73 Dart Sport
440 crank 440 rods Wiseco flat tops had 516 heads with big valves and a lot of port work motor on engine stand 10 yrs now was smoking when bought found 850 carb had 98 jets up front 82's in back go figure and a 50 cc pump I tore motor down had .040 on the rods and mains and a 509 cam didnt run bad no times but cylinder walls a little shiny I have everything to rebuild just procrastinating. 516 heads I put on a motorhome 440 and 1st motor in my 70 Dart went 11.00 with 590 cam 750 holley 2" pro part headers 456 gears 10" converter 3800 stall 29.5 slicks right at 3000lbs with me in it I think with an 850 it would of went in 10's
 
Update and change of direction.

I have a 400/512 that fell into my lap a couple weeks ago. Dyno time only, with all the paperwork, done by a reputable source. A couple items aren't the ideal for my use but I am able to make those changes easily.

The track I was on with my 451 build this came in at the minimum a $1k less complete. Not to mention it has better parts than I was rounding up or already had hoarded. I am excited to get this thing hooked up now. The seller will be getting it on the run stand for me to hear soon. Also got my a833 rebuilt this past week.

That sounds like a nice find! Get a vacuum advance distributor if you're going to run it on the street - otherwise I don't know that you should change anything. The .557 purple shaft is not that much cam for an engine as big as 512...
 
Congrats on the 511! On the street and some strip, especially in a B/E-body, a nice 451 with a tad more torque, is the 3.915" stroke 383. The blocks aren't as strong as a 400 for ultimate power capacity, but under 600hp N/A it will last forever. OE ported iron heads or small port (Promaxx, RPM, Sidewinder, Stealth, etc.) heads are ideal for this CID/stroke. I'm doing one at some point (have the pieces already) using a 383 block, 440 Source 4340 crank (but you can use an offset ground 440 crank with cut mains and counterweights), SCAT 6.700" I-beam rods and Diamond 4.280" x 1.320"CH pistons. Lightweight assembly (smaller pistons and shorter rods=lighter than a 400 based 451) and plenty of bore (only .040" smaller than a 440). Anything larger (489/496) really needs bigger heads and then makes more block flexing power, and you might want to consider a 400 block, but this really peps up that 383 sitting in the corner, passed up for a 440.

The best pull on my 451 was 576whp on a 175 shot through the factorry a body manifolds. It made 500/500 on the engine dyno with headers and an 850 holley. It had a 1050AN carb when installed. Cam was a Comp 294h with 1.6's.
 
20-ish years ago………400 with stock 440 crank with mains cut down, std port Stage 6’s with mild porting(300cfm), RB TG4500 intake, 1150 carb, 12:1 with Ross domes and BME rods, UD 280/.685 roller.
650hp.

Well, I see something but unsure if it is what I think it is due to the picture being blurry. Also not sure if it is what you were referring to but I do see something coming off the left side of the carb that shouldn't be there.... lol
 
There is a thing or two I am not sure of what I’m seeing. But I think it’s like, a Mirage.

Electrical wires down the drivers side, PVC valve hose seems to wrap around the rear and appearing like it’s connecting to the fuel line, the return spring looks like solid linkage for the trans kick down, I’m not sure what that metal line is on the fire wall, but the Holley looks like it’s on backwards even though it’s fuel lines are on what you would think is the normal feeding side.

I think it’s a backwards mounted carb.

I think it’s a 4150 main body that’s had the choke tower cut off and blended.
But it’s installed on the baseplate backwards.
Then the bowls are installed in the correct orientation to the baseplate.

So, take the big pieces all apart, reverse the main body, then reassemble.

Yes you are correct! I made a mistake and assembled it exactly as you described!!
Engine runs with that, but poor... Its an older Picture.
Mistake is corrected meanwhile:lol:

The Returnspring is the Returnspring and the "metalline" at the firewall is a Flexhose for oilpressuregage.
