for an asking price of $22,000, this is a pretty nice 68 340 non-S Barracuda that would make a nice "starter car" for someone who wanted something to drive to car cruises.

this car has a few rust spots and needs both door trim panels and the rear panels, but other than that, it looks pretty nice. it also still has the fender tag. i personally would ditch the wheels as soon as i got the car home for a set of hubcaps. the factory wire wheel caps would look good on a car like this. this isn't a "muscle" car with the factory air, but it would make a nice driver.

if you could get this car for $17-18k, i think that would be a solid investment.

OK, que all the "haters" out there in FABO land.... LOL!

That looks like an honest car, may not be completely original or correct, but it presents well IMO. I also like the color combination, looks like it would make a decent driver, and I agree that for 17 to 18k it would be a reasonable buy.

I'm not into hubcaps but... When I bought my 74, the guy put the original black rims and dog dish hub caps back on it. He wanted a couple hundred more for the Crager SS wheels. I didn't like them anyways. I put the ET wheels from my Roadrunner on it.
But, nothing more sinister looking than a black car with cop hubcaps.

Very cool car, Jim. They seem to find you. lol

Always liked that color. Was this originally a 318?

That looks like a way more sound car for a beginner than that 70 Duster 340 you posted before. Doesn’t look like it’s been messed with too much. You get a good vibe when you see original equipment still on car that that commonly get tossed by previous dufus owners (A/C, fan shroud, radiator, radio bezel...)

Of course you ALWAYS need to look at the car in person.

Someone said "investment" lol

At $17-18K, it’s an investment back east.

At $22K, it’s retail price for a car to putt around in and maintain. You start paying for paint repair or anything major, you are far from an “investment”.

Im North East, we all know they are a shitty "investment" unless its BJ time.

i haven't decoded the fender tag but i would guess this was a 318 car. i just bought a 69 fastback that needs work and it was a factory power steering and air car and it has a 318. back in the late 60's early 70's, the 318 was pretty much the "standard" engine in most A and B body cars. only the "economy" folks wanted the slant 6 and the 383 and up motors were considered "performance" motors. your average person walked into a Plymouth or Dodge dealer and drove out with a "V8" powered car and that V8 was almost always a 318.

Totally agree. It's not perfect, but none of them are. This one appears to be an honest solid car though. And pretty fairly priced for what it actually appears to be, unlike that Duster. At least it survives the low resolution internet picture inspection.

I think its one of those in-between cars? If lower optioned then a performance resto or even clone build. If higher? Then back to original. The good news? It's a '68 fastback. (If 4-speed? I would be all over it) But the price I believe is not insulting. And I'm sure will find a new home shortly.

I thought it had a 340 installed in it?

The link does not take me to the ad.

did it have 340 exhaust manifolds? Can’t tell on the right side one.

I know you cold get a 67 273-4 Commando without the Formula-S package but I wasn't aware that continued with the 340.

The tag is posted so we should be able to tell.

Was that in PA?

I agree on the wheels (maybe if the beads weren't black) but those of us in FL appreciate factory A/C.

Also love the color.

I have seen a high optioned 69 fastback that was a 340, but not a formula S. It was a bench seat car.

It didn't. When it comes to 2nd gen Barracuda's the 340 only came with the Formula S package in '68 just like the 383 only came in the Formula S package in '67. As stated above this was a 318 car.

My brand new '69 A56 cuda package car came with a bench seat and 4 speed. There were variations of Formula S and 340 S '69 Barracuda's but they all had the heavy duty shocks, sway bar etc. The Formula S like the cuda package cars all had black grill surrounds, the 340 S were argent. You couldn't get any 340 without the same suspension parts as a Formula S or cuda package car.

apparently someone thought the above Barracuda was a good deal. it's listed as SOLD for $22,500.00
There was a time, not too long ago, when that would be a price for a fully restored 68 Barracuda. I guess prices on nice A Bodies are stronger than I thought. Makes me wonder what mine is worth with a modified 340, 4 speed, disc brakes, A/C and 5 year old complete restoration. Not that it is for sale, but I would sell it if the right project car came along. That would be a 64 Sport Fury convertible in any condition or a 63-67 Corvette that needed a restoration. Yes, I said Corvette. I love the 63-67. I've had a 66 vert (which received a cosmetic restoration) and a 65 Factory AC 4 speed vert which received a frame off. As much as I like Mopars, I would get the Vette if an opportunity arose. Maybe I could talk my wife into keeping them both if I bought her a new RV. I've seen a few 64 Sport Fury verts for sale, but they are always too nice and too expensive. I'd like to find one that was a little rough around the edges.
