Ok guys this is the case. A guy on another site wanted some chrome pieces from me. He told me what pic they were in. I asked if these were the right ones as there was a few pieces. He confirmed which ones they were. We agreed on a price shipped. He gets them and has them for awhile. Then he tells me I sent him the wrong pieces. So I refunded his total payment as the other pieces had sold which I had told him b4. I asked if he would send them to another member. I’ll pay shipping. Yes no problem. I’ll send them tomorrow. I said lmk how much shipping is and I’ll pay him right away. 1 week later he never shipped. Says tomorrow once again. Now a month later and he never shipped them. Hasn’t answered my last 3 messages. What do u guys think. He has my parts.Kim

I think you have been taken advantage of.
It is getting very hard for me to trust anyone and at one time I was a give my shirt kind of guy.
It might be time for you not to be such a giving person to the unknown.

Lot's of flakes out there. With no motivation on his part, you are at his mercy. I normally ask for of a pic with it packaged and in my name before I send the dough. Not 100% foolproof, but at least no effort to drop it off.

I just went thru a similar issue over a cowboy hat of all things. Guy posted it for sale I sent check he cashed it and took almost 40 days to ship hat. I had already written it off. Turns out his wife is in stage 4 cancer and was in a rough patch. The hat was simply not on his radar as a priority. Once she got settled back down he promptly sent hat with both an apology and an explanation. You just never know what is going on with the other side of the fence. The break in communication is worrisome for sure. Hope it turns out but my vote is not looking good for ya! But you just never know.

Well each time I sent him a message I can see he was on and read the message. So he got my chrome parts and I paid to ship them to him. I didn’t take a pic when I packaged them. In the pic there was 2 totally different sets of chrome. Hard to mistake them for the others. I really hate to think ppl are like that. Oh well lesson learned. Kim

Advise that board op, maybe he can reach out to him and tell him there is an urgent matter that needs to be addressed, ie, your posting status is in jeopardy until you get this taken care of. That would be a legitimate use of moderator power right there. Play fair or GTFO my board.

Kim I can tell you how I have handle this situation in the past. I have sold parts that the buyer had a legitimate complaint. I this case I refund his money after I feel confident he is shooting me straight. I then tell him keep the stuff. Other times if I feel like I’m be bs’d I simply tell them ship it back to me at his cost and I’ll refund the original price he paid me including shipping. NEVER will I refund the money before I get my parts back. Unless I’m dealing with members I know and trust. Like you. I have found that dishonest people are reluctant to come out of pocket to ship stuff back to me. In this case I never hear from them. Then they join my ignore honor roll.

I got hit just once, maybe. I sent a '65 C-body wagon tail window/convertible top switch to somebody in a padded envelope. I think I sold it for $10 plus shipping. He says the envelope arrived empty, but STILL sealed. At that point I was not going to argue over less than $20...still don't see any way the envelope arrived empty, but...

It's to bad you guys get screwed that way. I find the guys on fabo have all been great to deal with. To bad some jerk ruins it for honest guys that really appreciate the assistance from you all
Dan

Your not getting played.. you already lost. The game is over and they took you for the parts/money.

Sadly... I only send parts to people I recognize and such. I can tell how someone is just by reading their posts and how to act towards others. I don't see genuine care from you, I don't extend you anything.

Percentage wise it is very small the buyers or sellers I’ve had problems with over the last 14 plus years.

Post number 2 sums it up in a nutshell, I am afraid. Tell us who did it.

Wether other forums or on FABO, it still leaves a bad impression with you guys that go out of your way to help us out and may make you think twice about being so trusting. In the long term only the honest guys on both sides of a deal feel the effects. Not the jerk who got a free part or money. I live in an area that doesnt have many used classic car parts available and that's why i appreciate you guys that help us and detest jerks who ruin it for all for selfish reasons

Good advice Roy. I’ll surely keep that in mind. I am too trusting. I like to see the best in ppl. Kim

I did a trade deal with a guy from another site in December. I sent him a 70 Cuda grill. He sent me his parts. We got them a day apart. I have probably did 20 trade deals. Some over a grand. My wife always says: Don’t do the deal unless u can afford to loose that much. Never have been screwed on a trade deal. I certainly can’t afford to loose a grand or not even $100.00. Kim

Smart wife.

Well with that in mind. Can you loan me $5000.00? I’ll pay you back when my hunch back brother straightens up. lol
Ok, send me $10k and I will lend you $15k back at zero interest for 6 months. Once you have repaid the $15k, I will repay the rest at only 1% interest. If you miss the deadline, the default interest is 29.75% per month.

Welcome to the credit card games.
